I was wondering why people sell mySpace accounts, can you use them to advertise or something?

Although it is againsts MySpace accounts to buy or sell or even use it for any commercial purposes apart from whatever they consent to such as those musician selling their music, people just turn a blind eye to this and just do it. MySpace is slow at handling such abuse.

Get one and try it out.

You mean you actually asked this question and don't have a `FREE` myspace account?

Get your feet wet, go learn some stuff, and then come back a month later and try to ask the same question. I'm sure you'll end up lurking in a different topic by that time.

Well, you cannot use the Myspace account for any commercial activities so that would mean that you cannot use it to advertise in. It is basically for social networking and making friends.

If you want to comply to the letter of the Terms and Conditions http://www.myspace.com/Modules/Common/Pages/TermsConditions.aspx which reads

People buy my space account to either send bulletins or to send paid bulletins. With a large account you could also promote a site through your profile. If you were good you could create massive viral marketing through myspace.

Lately myspace has really cracked down on friend requests, bulletins, etc. making promotion of sites much more difficult.

People basically bought accounts with 1000's of friends because it takes quite a while to build up an account from scratch.

Well, like I said, people who buys and sell MySpace accounts probably do not regard the TOS of MySpace of any importance. They just disregard it so that they can make quick money.

MySpace is slow is cracking down such transactions and thus people that trade in them just abuse it.

As to be why people are selling them, well there seems to be demand for such accounts and money is the underlying reasons why such accounts are traded.

hmmm, having many friends in myspace wont' help if you do not know how to make use of it. I, myself, do not like the idea of buying an account when those accounts, for some reasons, just having many UNKNOWN friends. Hence, no one will bother to look at your advertising anyways.

Often many of the people offering MySpace accounts for sale obtained them through deceptive means.... specifically PHISHING.

For those who don't know, phishing is when they send an email pretending to be MySpace asking the surfer to log in for some reason. The email looks like an official MySpace email, and the website you visit is designed to fool you into thinking you're logging into MySpace... when in fact you're really logging into a copy with the intent on fooling you into releaving your login and password. Phishing is old news for ebay and paypal, and is now starting for MySpace too.

Also just a heads up to anyone with phished accounts... please don't bother coming to MaxBounty with this traffic. We allow MySpace traffic but NOT from phished accounts. When you mail a MySpace bulletin to thousands of phished friends, lots of complaints are sent our way.... which means we always find out the traffic came from a phished account, and we always terminate the publisher.
