My new idea to help Web Hosting Companies

I currently run my own web hosting company and one of the difficult things of running a webhosting company is finding the right advertising that will bring a lot of visitors and sales if your selling things but yet still be affordable.

I know that most people that run their own hosting company have this problem and need help finding advertising because I've heard people on mulitple forums ask for advice on where to advertise their web hosting company.

Sure their are many directories to help find web hosting but what about a directory to help find Advertising for Web hosting companies. If I was to create such a site it hopefully would list hundreds of differnet advertising options along with traffic stats, prices, user reviews and users ratings of the sites where ads could be placed. The site would also have lots of resources such as articles and links to sites to help improving your hosting site and service.

For everyone, What are your thoughts about this? Do you think this could a successful idea? For Web Hosting Owners, would you go to the site for help and advice? For Site owners who that have ads on their site, would you list your site if it was created? Thanks in advance :)

I think have 24-7 support ( that actually responds)

And 99% no bullshit uptime will get great word of mouth advertising which is way better that any other kind

You could give me free hosting and if you didnt have the above 2 things I wouldnt want it

I agree word of mouth is a good way of advertising but sometimes it's very hard to get customers when theirs hundreds of thousands of other hosting companies out their. This way you could select your budget, the amount of traffic the site must have and the site rating to suit your advertising needs.

Webhosting is as cut-throat a business as there is on the Internet.

If you found a good advertising medium you certainly wouldn't review and rank it publicly, you would keep it to yourself or pan it so that no one else tried it.

uptime, backup, fast service that is what i will someone would look for in hosting.

if you can give good content database of these hosts with reviews it mite work out..
not a bad idea, but lot of competition in hosting sites

I own a hosting company Greenlush.com, your right it is hard to find the right advertising. I useually find lots of cheap text links and small banner adverts on sites help quite a little bit for traffic but getting peaple to your website doesnt mean there going to purchase the service or anything. There are lots of PR5/PR6 directorys that only cost about $30 a year to get a feactured listing in some of them also sell banner ads on the front page ect... Its all about the service at the end of the day, if the service is quality word of mouth can travel fast and customers will be knocking the door down.
