Should I allow music at workplace?

    Dear all,

Here is a confusion, I wanted to increase the productivity of my employees. I want them to feel that the environment is good and they can chill out during work still be sincere at work.

Do you think allowing them to play a soft music at low volume will help to bring homely and friendly environment?

Do you have any other suggestions... please share...

I think that you should allow music to be played in the workplace. Some people (like myself) tend to work better in a more upbeat atmosphere.

Here my concern, what if you have 10 employee, and every one is listening to their own favorite music, guess what'll happen?
Here my oppinion that you can choose:
    1. yes, but must have using earphone
    2. yes, but in certain level of volume (30%, 40% etc)
    3. yes, but at specified place (perhaps at living room, or conference room when not vacant)

    just my 2 cents

You must make a firm rule, tell your employees that there is nothing relaxed during working hours,

Providing music at workplace will definitely help them to increase productivity but i also suggest you to provide them headphones so that everyone can listen music of his choice.

If you put everyone in headphones, then they will drop off into their own world. Yes I recommend playing music and letting employees relax some but still remember it is work and a walk in the park.

I think it would be a good idea as long as it doesnt bother other members. But you should let each person listen ti their own music because each person likes something different.

Music yes, it's increasing productivity. My friend was a factory manager and he confirmed this. But don't let them play it by themselves, use a centralized sound system and you or your manager are the one in charge to play it. You can even take requests from your employee for songs, think about it like a local radio for your company.

what do your employees do exactly? if they do, lets say, data entry music can be distractive. The $$ bonus system works great - each month you run something like "employee of the month" contest based on their productivity and you set a monetary bonus for the winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd place bonus if there are too many of them). From my experience even if the bonus is not very large, it still makes employees happy.

    Music is cheaper than money.

Maybe you should just invest in some canes, and beat them harder?

Music can help your employees to feel more relaxed. Too much stress in a workplace can make everybody feel exhausted.
