Google has launched a new service designed to let Web site publishers build their own search engines using Google’s massive index of page links. [...] With Custom Search Engine, Google joins others that provide similar services, including Yahoo Inc. and Rollyo Inc.

There are some who claim to be able to get you high rankings in no time at all because of some technique they possess or knowledge that they have, or amazing software that can submit to 10,000 search engines (of which 9,940 are far off places with obscure search engines with whom you do not want to be associated . . . these so call search engines are this BIG SPAMMER). These companies are misleading you. These people are preying on your innocence trust. This is how it usually works: A business pays for a website and can't find itself on any of the search engines, so the owner gets frustrated and thinks there has to be an easy way for millions of people to find their snappy new website. Some, less than scrupulous search engine submission services, appear to offer the quick, simple solution and in some cases may get results, more often than not though, it’s the last you’ll see of your money.

Just submitting your URL to a search engine is NOT enough Part Two

Yes, it is to see niche search engines now.

People should better be more aware of these claims. Reading the Terms of Service, I believe Google still has control over these issues. But how many are reading the TOS?

The claims I was referring to is that some individuals or companies who might use Google Customized Search to display that their rankings are on the top just because they have been using a limited number of sources.

People have to be educated about how this thing works and distinguish it from the main Google search. While you can change the layout of the search page, you can also mimic the Google search engine layout.

Yes, you hit the nail right on the head. Many website owners don't read the search engine TOS (all good search engines have a TOS) Google’s restructure their whole web site this year. Many web site has notice that their PR has changed some website went up and some went way down. Now being a website owners you must take new strategy you need to understand how to optimize your website and follow their TOS. For example, many website owners don't even know that Google uses two indexes for its search results. The normal index and the supplemental results index.

What are Google's supplemental results and what's the problem?

Google defines supplemental results as follows:

"A supplemental result is just like a regular web result, except that it's pulled from our supplemental index. We're able to place fewer restraints on sites that we crawl for this supplemental index than we do on sites that are crawled for our main index. For example, the number of parameters in a URL might exclude a site from being crawled for inclusion in our main index; however, it could still be crawled and added to our supplemental index.

If you're a webmaster, please note that the index in which a site is included is completely automated; there's no way to select or change the index in which a site appears. Please also be assured that the index in which a site is included doesn't affect its PageRank."

If your web pages are listed in the supplemental results then it is likely that your web pages could not be parsed correctly by Google's standard crawler.

The problem with Google's supplemental results are that they are only supplemental. If your web pages are listed in the supplemental results then they won't be returned very often for regular search queries.

How to find out if your web pages are in the supplemental results

An easy way to find out how many of your pages are listed in Google's supplemental results is to search for the following on Google.com:

    site:www.domain.com ***

Search for that phrase and then proceed to the last result pages to find the supplemental results. Of course, you have to replace www.domain.com with your own domain name.

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 1 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.

If this is that, then one of my site has 1 page in main index and 2149 in supplemental.Just great.
What could be problem ? Same meta for all sites, I dont know how to change it, its php site and all meta stuff is done through admin

How to get out of Google's supplemental results

Most web sites have pages in Google's supplemental results. It means that Google had difficulty to index these pages or that Google had other problems with these pages.

Make sure that your web pages don't contain any spam elements and that you don't use any spam techniques to promote your web site. Using spam techniques to promote your web site is often the reason why a web site doesn't get good rankings. Better focus on ethical search engine optimization methods.

Make it easy for search engines to index your web pages. If possible don't use web page URLs that contain question marks or the & symbol (symbol to void using: &, &nbsp, &amp: in your html codes). Make sure that the HTML code of your web pages offers what search engines need. There are many Optimizer software to prepare your web pages for search engine.

Make these pages easy to find for Google's web crawler. The more links point to your web pages, the more likely it is that search engine crawlers fill find your web pages. Use good inbound links to your site.

Most web sites have pages in Google's supplemental results. The easier you make it Google to index your web pages the more pages of your site will be listed in Google's normal results.

To be honest, I'm getting tired of Google, even though it has good features and Adsense still pays.
