If you follow people in your target niche, they usually follow you back. Its a good start.

 

1. Follow everyone
2. Retweet like mad
3. Constantly tweet about what you’re doing
4. Auto DM new followers to welcome them
5. Link to your MySpace, Facebook or Bebo page
6. Ask people to Digg, Retweet, Bookmark, Float etc.
7. Ask people to follow you
8. Use all 140 characters
9. Don’t give away your secrets
10. Don’t reply to nobodies

 

Its easy to get followers on twitter.
Be an active poster i.e post reasonable posts.
Follow people, then tweet at them and ask them to follow back.
Retweet as many tweets as you can especially tweets of the people yu are following.
Reply people when they tweet at you.

I agree. Twiends is good but after people follow you, a few will unfollow relatively quickly. If you quickly retweet some of their tweets you might be able to reduce the number of unfollows.

 

Follow people who shares the same interests as yours.

 

As what they've mentioned, following other users might return the favor, and follow you too. From my experience, I do follow users that has the same interests/topics as I am, and luckily, they just follow me right after

Don't use twiends... they are random untargeted people. Plus they unfollow you right away. There are two secret rules you need to know about getting meaningful twitter followers...

1. Be Active! Nobody wants a dead account to follow, they want an active connection.

2. Content is King! More tweets isn't better if they are crappy, yet only one good tweet a month isnt very good either. You need a good quality and quantity of tweets on a regular basis, they need to be entertaining or informative in some way. There should be VALUE in reading your tweets.

Make sure you do those two things and I promise your accounts will gain momentum...
