    Aside from having useful and helpful content as shared by other members on this thread, I believe being responsive to your visitors are a plus factor. Look at the blogs of good writers, they respond to their visitors well so visitors are coming back. Also, if you have areas were they can participate like comment or rate something would make them revisit your site. It's like you are valuing them enough and the communication is two-way.
