Save Me From Godaddy

My site has been down for about 10 hours and Godaddy said it could be 12 hours more! This is crazy - Google is gonna kill me.

Godaddy migrated my site to a new server - without me asking btw - and screwed up the IP and then are super slow on the DNS changes.

Please, I need some name of large, ultrareliable hosting companies that can do a migration without taking your site down for 12-24 hours!

    Please help...

There are always problems with GoDaddy, try moving over to HostGator. Their service & customer service is amazing.

Have you ever had to do a migration? If so, how did it go?

NOTE: I'm reading reviews about them and it sure sounds positive so far!

No, I've never done a migration. I only hear bad things about GoDaddy and would never use them. All my experiences with HostGator to date have been above my expectations. Even things that they say they don't support, they help with.

If Godaddy used cPanel it would be easier but since they do not you will have to manually backup all of your websites files and any databases to move over to your new web host. If you are going with HostGator talk with their support staff about your website that you'd like to move over.

Make sure if you sign up with HostGator you get your first month for 1 cent. You can do this by going to http://hostgator.com/ekakskdk - If you want to call them, give them the 1 cent code so they can give you the first months discount. Just another great thing about HostGator!

Thx for the tip, but my site is super simple. I have everything backed up myself and it will take me literally 2 minutes to copy onto a new server.
