Social media optimization (SMO)

Social Media Optimization (or SMO or Social SEO) is the methodization of social media activity with the intent of attracting exclusive visitors to website content. SMO is one of several online methods of website optimization. One of the several other methods is search engine optimization or SEO.
There are two categories of SMO/Social SEO methods:
(a) Social media features added to the content itself, including: RSS feeds, social news and sharing buttons, user rating and polling tools, and incorporating third-party group of people functionalities like images and videos
(b) Promotional activities in social media away from the content being promoted, including: blogging, commenting on other blogs, participating in discussion groups, and posting status updates on social networking profiles
Social Media Optimization is associated to search engine marketing, but differs in several ways, primarily the focus on driving traffic from sources other than search engines, though better search ranking is also a benefit of successful SMO.

Now days Social media is the great source to get quality traffic to your website as you can represent your website creative through social media sites.

 

It's just another buzzword/phrase for something that has been happening for a few years.

 

Social Media Optimization in my opinion requires the most amount of time and effort for it to deliver results - only because you truly have to be genuine and passionate about this kind of marketing for it to work. Other aspects of Search Engine Marketing I would think are more mechanical....

It is true that SMO helps you to get your targeted audience which may be turned as your future clients. It only helps you to get traffic to your website. But getting ranking in the top search results of search engines we still need effective SEO to be performed.

I get two hundred unique views a day from social media promotion, mostly Twitter, which is a great help while I'm trying to rank on Google for my keyword.

 

Good, but for me twitter is not supporting as yours, for me facebook is more useful for visitors...

 

Explain please in great detail how you get more than two hundred unique views a day from Facebook.

 

1.Add more friends to your facebook page, give regular useful updates
2.Give your facebook page to other possible sites and share your updates their also...

 

In this current situation SMO is more useful for marketing all products...
