Not One.I wanted to answer this question but hundreds of great people coming into mind and I couldn't able to put one.Anyway there is a phrase in my local language Telugu it says "Endaro Mahanubhavulu Andariki Naa Vandanalu" - It means " My salutes to many great persons in the world."(May not be the exact translation though)

Yes quite right, there are so many great people in history to pick from that it is indeed very difficult to pick just one.Your translation may not be perfect,I don't know. But it is good the way you wrote it.:).

That is a good choice. The prophet changed the lives of many by the way he lived his life and by his teachings, which even today are studied by 1.25 billion people around the world.

It can be argued that Gandhi did not completely succeed in his message of non violence. But we all love him for at least trying. His message while not necessarily always followed,is at least admired.Followers of Gandhi would probably agree with the Roman Seneca who in 4 B.C. wrote:"While I may not be the Roman I should be,at least I would like to be".:)

He did indeed, and he continues to inspire.

Muhammed Ali is so much more than just a great boxer. He fought for the rights of African Americans. And who of us can ever forget him walking up those stairs holding the Olympic flame? Such a gutsy performance.

Gandhi's message of non violence may not have been followed the way he would have liked but yes,his legacy of a free India is indeed worthy for many to label him the greatest in history. And if there are any who doubt that he is not still loved and admired by many, they have only to read this thread.
