    they must take up a ton of bandwith right?

    and if you got enough visitors could it be very profitable or only a couple dollars a day?

    basically im asking is it a good site to start?

    Of course fot it needs very good connectionto internet of course thee servicesare very expensive.You should be catch visitors from Europe and USA for clikcing your ads.

    File sharing services take up massive amounts of space and bandwidth. Its almost necessary to have a dedicated server with an unrestricted line. You can make money by users clicking your ads or charging your users a fee to upload the files.

    im aware of adwords and stuff like that, my main question is would the server cost more than i would actually make in revenue?

    If you just have adwords, then generally the server could cost more. However, there are more ways to monetize a high traffic site.

    • Sell text links
    • Install phpadsnew and have banners rotate ($XX/month)
    • Display affiliate banners
    • Collect email addresses and send a weekly, sponsored email

    File sharing services use a lot of space and bandwidth. As far as I know google adsense will not bring you so much money, so the better way is to sell a links and banner spots.
