Can I live on campus as an "older" student?

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by netsavy006, Oct 10, 2011.

I'm hopeful I can get some answers.

    What I'd like to know:

Is it possible to live on campus when you are in your mid 20s?

I'm 24 and am contemplating going back to school but I want to try the living on campus experience.

Is it too late for me?

    I'd appreciate all responses.

    Thanks,
    ~ Andy

I am sure its different with all the school's maybe you should contact them on the rules.. And since your older maybe you can be like they will put you over the younger peoples dorms? and make sure they are following the rules?..

My best advice is to contact them..

You can still live on campus. There are people of all ages here, I don't think there is a cut-off.

of course, there are many programs that you can undertake on campus, i think some campuses don't limit their student age.. just do Googling

It all depends on the school and the programs they have on their campus. Just contact your counselor and they should be able to give you a run down.

Try to establish your heart when you are ready to hold embarrassed then you are ready.

The hardest when we entered the campus again when we had 24 years is the shame of it,if you could convince yourself that education is important and not important then shame you are prepared.

    Welcome back to campus andy

I've read that the oldest student at UC Berkeley is 64.Your 24? wow, you're still a child.Getting used to studying might be someone challenging, well, depending on your background and what you've been doing during your years after school, but trust me, after some time, it gets much easier. Just don't give up.Community Colleges are easier to adopt at first. Take few classes, check it out. Then you'll decide what you want to do next.Best of luck!

You and I are in the same boat. I am going off to a four-year university next year and I will be 25. I debated whether to live in a dorm but honestly, i have been spoiled by living on my own for too long and i dont think I can handle the cramped quarters and little privacy.

But honestly, 24 isn't too old at all! You're still very young. I think it's all about personally preference.

What is your major? Best of luck to you.

I agree with this. I've got people in my philosophy classes who are in their seventies, although I'm not sure if you can compare it with the USA, since the tuition in my country is only 2000 euros a year, and therefore the barrier to start a study is way lower.

Anyways, the start for me was pretty tough. For me the work pressure and tempo was really high. Although this will really differ per university or person, but don't underestimate it like I did :)

edit: I'm just talking about studying in general, not talking about living on a campus, they don't have that kind of stuff over here.

Why are you asking us instead of asking the university?

After some time you will become old and everybody react as if you are an old student.

24 shouldn't be a problem but then again it's always best to check with the school. I never lived on campus, but I do remember seeing plenty of older people in the dorms.
