What is a vps hosting

Hi guyz,
i recently bought a vpos hosting with powervps.com after reading their positive reviews here.,
But i dont know what a vps hosting means, I use only shared hosting., I bought it for running a youtubeclone (just for testing though(

Can anyone explain me about it?,

a Virtual Private Server. It gives you full root access, but not dedicated hardware. You're sharing the whole server with someone else, but you have certain resources allocated to your own account.

You probably should have researched this a bit more before purchasing it, but whatever floats your boat.

 

Virtual Private Server: You are assured access to a certain amount of resources (memory, etc). VPS is better than shared hosting, and cheaper than dedicated.

 

It's like having a dedicated server. You can reboot a vps, but not a shared hosting account. You can install any application you want, you have full root access on a vps.

The only difference is you're sharing the hardware with other vpses, but very few "end user" differences as such. Like a server within a server, a "virtual" server.

 

It's the step between shared hosting and going dedicated.

 

what is the different among vps and reseller?

 

reseller is just shared hosting, allowing you to resell accounts

 

but with reseller we can access root as well...

 

reseller isn't that much cheaper then a vps. with vps your get more resources then what you would get with a reseller.

I used to. I got set up in 6 hours. They call to verify the order first though.

 

They called, but it was received by mom (who does not know english and dint understand it) and they dint call again., I sent several mails and still waiting for a call
Just got a call and got confirmed ., I think These guys are cool, Hope i learn about VPS soon

 

I'm with them and their support is excellent and very fast to respond.

 

How did you guys end up talking about VPS vs Reseller etc...

If you have a VPS you have a virtual dedicated server, you can do reseller hosting, shared hosting, porn hosting whatever you want!

 

Yep, on vps you have no limits like on reseller.Bassically companies makes many vps per server node but main server is quite good like Quad Xeon 4 gb Ram etc

Yep, that's true but i recommend dedicated if you are paying like 50$+ for vps
