I have seen a huge increase in traffic but don't know why

Has something changed around August this year with Google's algorythm?

The reason I'm here asking is that I learned most of my SEO skills here from you the members but have been leaving my sites to run themselves for about a year as I haven't had time to market them.

I have just checked my traffic stats as I was helping a client do the same and couldn't resist, she's is happy by the way got a client already from the updated web site. Anyway back to the point something changed around August this year and my sites have been experiencing an steady increase in traffic, which I hope will continue of course, but I don't know why.

I'm not talking a small increase either I mean daily 200 visits increasing to almost 500 on a single domain. Thats not everything either the one that was hovering just below 3000 is now achieving 10,000.

This is over a period of 3.5 months, I'm happy becasue the revenue has gone up as well athough haven't checked the individual sites yet as I have a lot to work through but have seen 100% increase in a similar period.

Can anyone help as I woudl like to see the trend continue.

Seems like you need to offer help rather than get . Maybe it is a result of some previous SEO taking full effect. Unless you know exactly what is leading to the increase it is hard to know how to maintain it.

 

Install a tracking system like Google Analytics. You will see exactly where the traffic is coming from.

 

check your analytics account..

 

Statcounter.com is another good tracking system to employ. It shows individual visitors to your site, where they are located in the world, what OS they are using to find your sites, how long they spent on your site etc.

 

I would simply say Kudos..... You might want to not do anything and just see if the results are maintained. Analytics can tell you which keywords are driving traffic and where is it coming from. It might help you with any future efforts.

 

I will say kudos as well, Check analytics if you have it set up and also do a backlink check, oh and by the way their was a Google page rank update a little while ago so that might have done something to help you out.

Maybe you got a good back link from some well known site or a few well known sites.

If you have had an analytics software program installed you should be able to find out straight away. If not maybe check Alexa and see what they say your top keywords are (not always very reliable). Google have made changes recently. Looks like you got effected in a good way

 

A huge increase in traffic appear to me once but my site was crack then and I lost almost everything, be careful .

 

You need some traffic analytics tool such as google analytics. You can actually find the answer from the data.

Google Analytic is best for traffic report Analysis . paste google analytic code in your sites and verify it for traffic report analysis

 

Check Google Analytics and Webmaster tools. You can find out the key of success.

 

Some times it happens that, once you post revelant contente on your website, google will increase your links and pagerank, after this you will probably receive much more traffic!

 

If you have seen huge traffic in your site. It can be good but first check your analytic account to know more about visitor.

 

You can take help of Web Analytics (if already installed). If not, try installing any free web analytics. Google Analytics will be best for you.

Knowing the exact reason can help you increasing it even more, maybe ~700 - ~1000. Because then you can shift (not entirely, but at least 70:30) your efforts towards that activity only.

some of your keywords prob made it up to the first page of google. It can take a year or two to move up on the first page, according how though your competition is. just keep doing what you are doing and hopefully in the future you will see more traffic.
