    From these comments we can assume that most of the people are against smoking in public place. Then why our government not taking an initiative to ban this.....

    i hate the smokes but not the smoker. i pity them, they are killing themself slowly and it will affect people around them. is that fair? not at all.

    You can't smoke in public places anymore in Belgium neither since the 1st of July. Going to a bar is boring, really. You see a huge difference between what happened one month ago and right now.

    Well, I don't like smoking because it causes illness. That said I recognise that smokers have the right to enjoy their addiction.
    I would allow smoking in open public places, as long as it doesn't interfere with the right of non-smokers to breathe uncontaminated air.

    Well I don't see the problem on it. When you are outside, if you are close to someone that is smoking, just walk away from them, it is banned inside most places anyway.
