Biggest Online Attack Ever - Cyber War 2012

Hacking collective Anonymous went on another spree Monday morning, assuming control of Senator Chuck Grassley's Twitter account and shutting down the websites of CBS and Universal Music.
Grassley (R-Iowa) had been a supporter of the Senate’s anti-piracy legislation, commonly known as PIPA, and the Anonymous hackers made it known that his position inspired the hack.
Grassley issued a statement late last week that he felt the legislation needed to be altered, but that did not seem to make a difference.
“Dear Iowans, vote against ACTA, SOPA, and PIPA, because this man, Chuck Grassley, wants YOUR internet censored and all of that BS,” the hacker wrote.
The hacker then self-identified as an “Anonymous follower,” and Grassley and the hacker went back and forth posting.
Grassley noted that he was hacked, but then Anonymous jumped back in posting items like “#WINNING” and wondering why Grassley had not changed his password yet.
At some point a second hacker took over and then claimed to have changed the password, essentially holding the account hostage (while voicing Grassley's mock support for Herman Cain as President.)
Hacking has become a choice technique for those irate about Congress’ anti-piracy legislation (and the closure of online locker service Megaupload), as Anonymous shut down the sites of the Department of Justice, Motion Picture Association of America and others last week.
Those attacks, combined with a day of online protest Jan. 18 in which several sites went dark, helped block the bills – for now.
Both PIPA and its House counterpart SOPA were shelved for the foreseeable future.

The only freedom of speech Anonymous cares about is their own freedom of speech. Anyone else with a different view, they want to silence with threats and intimidation. I have no respect for them. I think they're a terrorist group.

 

Actually, they have sent a message. "YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE IN CONTROL"

Internet is probably the last thing that give us freedom to read and do whatever we wants, good or bad, but who decide what is good or bad? you? NO, Governments.
Rich people can do whatever they like while middle class and lower classes have just the rights to shut it and do what are they told to do, loosing their rights one by one, left aside and no one care about them.

You are caugh downloading a movie, you are fine and that could cost you an arm, someone at the Whitehouse or any other government building (like it happened in France) is cauch downloading a movie, he got a slap in the hand and a few days later no one hear abot it anymore, and downloads are just exemples, it's actually the case for many things.

Why those people should have priviliges when it's actually them who says, you can't do that, it's bad.

I am not behind anonymous and their acts but actually I think it's good that someone is sending them a message.

 

SOPA isnt completely dead and noone is going to stop these senators from continuing to get what they want. They just wont call it SOPA and theyll take smaller bites out of our freedom.

 

I don't see it as class warfare, or even Government vs. the people. How I feel, is artists, innovators, creators, should have certain protections from having their property stolen. I think Anonymous would like to significantly reduce, or in some cases, outright eliminate these protections. (If it's just a movie or pic, many times, all they want is to have it removed. That seems reasonable, right?) And they go a step further by hacking into websites to intimidate, costing them in loss of data and down time. The message I'm hearing is "We want to steal your intellectual property, and if you try to prevent that, we will hack into all your sites!" Artist complaining about property stolen? comon, ALL of them now are using the internet to promote their stuff, because it's definitly cheaper (FREE) than a tv spot or something like that and after that they complain that their work is stolen?

Overall I agree that they can fight against stupidity said by government but I also agree that they should not go too far and annoy people like you and me

 

That seems to be a real cyber war. As last year was named a year of revolution, this one will be a year of "cyber revolution"!

 

I good 70% of the hackers are in China and I have proof to back that up.

 

I think there should be a black day over the internet just like wikipedia to show that we are one against the SOPA and PIPA. Also congrats to 'anonymous' for the what they had done.
