Very good point, because unlike classmates.com, people have actually signed up at myspace!

It will never be "dead". It's dying though.

    Spammers drove me away.

I reckon it will be around for a long time yet, but could die out after a while.

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa cept most of these sites were made BEFORE myspace and myspace has passed them and lapped them 2 times... also there is basically nothing these people can do that will be origional and not seen as a MYSPACE TYPE PRODUCT... the sits you mentioned are not even in the realm of competition with myspace and its laughable to think of a site that can compete... only 2 come to mind GOOGLE AND YAHOO lol... there 1000's of myspace imitation sites and then there are many sites that came before myspace that couldnt do what TOM did with it.... All these sites had the right idea... but didnt see the picture.... and i dont think you see the picture either... MYSPACE IS ALL THOSE SITES COMBINED.... Tom combined all those sites with all their ideas and put them into one site... and thats all that happend... instead of having 10 cool sites for rating pics, keeping intouch, showcasing new music, and having you own area to do as u please with.... HE MADE ONE UNREAL SITE that did all the things those sites did... then he went a step further in making all those things better and more efficient ......... Try to see it... thats all he did... steal the ideas of "competitive" sites and then add all of them together to form his own GREAT idea... and i know its not just tom who did this and there were a few others who created the site .. but it is easier to talk about just him.... well anyways.. thats my second input about this... prolly have more to say once someone else says somethign bad

as long as this site continues to implement new features, does R & D in creating improved user friendly environment it wont ever die.
its in strong hands now, more depends on the management wat they are doing to increase and ensure regular visitors there.

u act like myspace is only dealing with webmasters and people who know about that stuff... 95% of the people that are on myspace have NO CLUE how slow the site is.. they dont realize that other sites are faster or that the layout is crap... ur dealing with NORMAL PEOPLE ... dont give them too much credit :)

I'm not so sure about that, it doesn't take a computer genious to notice a site is slow or having problems. Hence the popular display of this image:

MySpace at the moment is huge. I see Myspace being mentioned on National TV a lot, especially on music channels like BET. They just need to keep a consistent flow of what they are doing and they won't be going away for a while.

It all depends on what people are there for. Myspace meets the needs of a lot of users. Not all registered users are actually "active" so I think that myspace user number is overrated. I don't think it's here to stay for the long haul. I've heard 11-12 year olds (smart ones) say that myspace is "boring..." so I think their generation will find a more interesting hang out in the future.
Personally, I think myspace is a waste of time unless you're not there to make money and sell something. Who gives a crap about 'profiles' and layouts and stuff?
