Traffic from Digg

I ld like to know how many of you succeeded in geting traffic from digg?

I tried to post few articles but I never got anything in return and they ve been digged only 1 or 2 times!

I guess it's related to the content/title of my articles or is there anything to do to increase traffic?

You need to get it submitted by a top user, otherwise it never gets dugg.

Digg is a very narrow niche and most stuff is just not suitable for digg.

 

I do quite well out of digg but I don't submit things myself I rely on readers submitting stories they enjoy. It certainly helps if a top user does the submit but I've had a few front pages from less frequent submitters.

I had a front page yesterday for the swear bear which resulted in a few sales so it's certainly worth it.

 

6 months ago, I had good luck submitting my own sites and getting them to the front page. Now, they only seem to get to the front if they are submitted by one of the top users. I think they may have changed their algorithm and that has caused the change. Also as the size and number of submissions grows people are starting to just watch what is being submitted by the top users in order to decide what to vote for.

Also you use to be able to have 4 or 5 of your friends vote for your article and that would bump it up in the category enough that others would see it and then it would get on the front page from there. That doesn't seem to be the case now. They keep track of people who always vote for the same thing and block them or give them a lower actual score.

If your site is interesting, try submitting it to Boing Boing, del.icio.us and sites like that first. Another idea is to carefully look at the top submitters and try to figure out where they are getting their stories from. You might be able to get some onto some of the sites that they are using to get stories from.

I've received much traffic from DIGG. The best way to get on listed is to talk crap on Apple or Firefox. I just got flamed over there for my post about Apple hiring Radio Shack to design the new MacBooks.

I got no traffic from using digg but i have not given up i will surely try again.

 

I think it definitely makes a difference on what your website is about. it seems like most things on digg (at least these days) are pointing to blogs and news sites. So trying to market your website about teddybears isn't going to fly - unless those bears curse or badmouth apple

 

I've only had one front page Digg. my server didn't survive it unfortunately totally caught me off-guard

 

If you were to write about teddy bears then your headline should be something like "Apple Is a Baby and Needs a Teddy Bear and Binkie"

That should get some attention.

 

I see, when writing you should choose the title very carefully, even if your site has nothing related to it

Digg has very narrow niche and the traffics are more likely temporary, there are not specific categories for SEO, hosting and online business hence if you post to other most relevant categories there are chances that it might be overlooked or lost in crowd. Also most of the time I find articles on digg's are not worth much or either I've already read it somewhere.

 

DIGG traffic stinks. just a waste of bandwidth.
