Microsoft launches So.cl Social Network

Its Not actually Socail network for everyone .. Microsoft designed it for research persons and If you are scholar or in university then i am sure it will work for you ..

SO.CL just following other social networks .. there are many features common in G + and Facebook.

Let see how it Goes...

 

I think they are marketing their social network as "a research project". What do you think?

I mean who creates a social network for research purpose and makes it available to users...

 

facebooks still better atm with all its games apps and stuff I love playing zynga games on fb and socl doesnt have that atm

so.cl seems to be a smart attempt to make search better and more collaborative. It might gain traction as it does not compete with Facebook which is mostly used for "status" updates.

 

Totally, the whole idea of social search implemented by Microsoft is simply awesome! I am glad that Microsoft launched its own social network with some innovation.

 

so.cl is not by invite only, i register without invitation.

 

Same here, i also registered on so.cl using Facebook account and it was instant and no waiting for invitation. But my friend despite signing up with Facebook had to wait for invitation to sign up. Although he got an the invitation within 24 hours it shows that while signing up you may also have to wait for invitation.

 

Well, most of the functions are basic functions however the video party option seems to be a little different and innovative idea to me. I guess one can start a video conferencing with that option. What do you guys think?

 

Still not give a try there. How many social network we need? I have Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. I even not manage enough time to manage them separately. However, if it can come in the main stream, may be I will try.

 

We cannot start a video conferencing on so.cl it is not a feature similar to Google+ hangout.

Same here, already we are busy with Facebook and Twitter that we cannot be on every social network. Its getting to much isnt't?
