Can I make $1000 by Christmas?

Guys you give me courage when you tell me that you are making money through the web...I would have been happy if I could have made $30 with a website...

 

Well this is CS:Source, so it's a newer version. I think it came out like 2 years ago. But there are like 23,000 servers, so it's a popular game.
Also, I just want to finish that site which should be done by the end of this week, and then concentrate on my computer site and submitting them all to directories.

 

Your Halo 2 website has a lot of room for SEO / income improvement. You could double what it is making now.

 

I doubt that... I've tried some other SEO things, but none seemed to help. Also I think that my ad placement is good, because I'm getting about 5% CTR. But what would you suggest?

 

I thought of an idea last night, tell me if you think it might work.
I could make one of those "Million dollar link" page things, except not have it be for a million. I could have 3 different goals - 1)Get $1000 so I can do the security deposit and whatever for an apartment, 2)Get $10,000 so I can put a down payment on a house (they are cheap where I live), or 3)Get 65K so I can buy the house. It could be something like mommasboy.com...
I don't think I would ever make enough for the whole house, because even the Million Dollar Link Experiment is only at 11-12K, but I might be able to get enough for a down payment.

Do you guys think the whole momma's boy thing would make it unique enough to work?

Yeah but honestly powk, If you wanted you could let your sites atm make the 400 standard a month and spend a few hours a day promoting resell scripts making profit on them.

I'm making about the same as you, from 2 sites.. but am making more sites as we speak. I'll tell you one thing everyone here knows. Don't rely on 1 site and 1 method. IE, your halo site + google. Make sure you expand as adsense flux's and also, it is down right stupid to base something off 1 source. You don't want adsense to flux one month and you can't pay your rent. Work on a few sites, and start now.

I just got accepted into YPN last night, so I'm trying that out on a couple pages now.

 

I will suggest you use a site like linkmetro.com for link exchanges, and put you adsense code in their links pages and exchange links with as many sites as possible.

 

You should try targeting some high traffic keyword and work on adding content to get into top SERP result
this shud get u traffic and hence targetted people will visit ur site and hence more earnings.

 

Ok, kind of a little update - One of the big paying advertisers for Halo 2 stopped their ads a couple weeks ago, so my CPC is back down really low. I don't think they knew how to manage their ads because I was getting 25-75 cents for each click of their ads, but the competition only pays 5-10 cents.
But I have gotten a lot more traffic to my Halo 2 site, now I'm getting 1000-1300 uniques per day. I'm still experimenting with ad layouts to get a good CTR.
My Counter Strike site got indexed and is showing up in the SERPs, so I'm getting about 50 uniques per day from that. I've pretty much slacked off and not worked on much for the last few days, but now I'm starting a local classified ads site. There's only like 6000 people in my town, but I'm hoping it will make me an extra $100 a month.

 

hey powwka, looking to your site, nice work and nice revenue (i am just starter with all this) but if you want increase traffic, besides all the SEO, and Link building tricks, you should update your site very often, (google luv that) a way i think will be nice (well besides of adding more halo 2 glitches) is put some blog halo 2, xbox news. Also since your site has useful info i think adding the "send this glitch to a friend, and maybe the ability to ppl add comments to the glitches, humm other thing, humm and what about the "halo 2 glitch contest" where you offer a compensation to the best glitch could be a amazon gc, or could look for a sponsor and asking him a video game or some game gear and you place his add.. well those are all my ideas for incrise the trafic for your site hope you find then useful.

 

Those are some great ideas, thanks. I think what I'm going to do though is just finish changing my ad layouts and then be done with that site. That's the thing I like about it - I don't have to do anything to it, and people still come to it. Then I can concentrate on my computer site or other sites that pay better.

You could also sign up to the eBay affiliate program and show ads for XBoxes,
PSs and suchlike on your sites. Or even second hand games.. controllers etc.
Your target market is probably young men, so have a look through Azoogle for
CPA offers that might appeal to them.

Your AdSense placement could be seriously optimized for a higher CTR. Put it
nearer to the top of the page, and give it a little image so it looks like one of
your other links. Make sure you have some seperation between the image and
the ad though (such as a border) otherwise the mighty G will stamp it's foot.

 

I think most of my viewers must be teens because I had over 200 clicks with CJ and no sales or leads.

That's what I first had, and it got a decent CTR, but I'm trying something else now...
