    There is a really great book that I own called You Are Your Own Gym... alternatively... join a gym, exercise and eat well. :)

    Don't overthink it, you're only talking about pushups. If you feel you need help to do this simple exercise I'm sure you'll find video tutorials on youtube.

    Reduce calorie intake makes your body tighten as you start naturally consuming the newly created cells. If you just diet, you'll be firm-ish, but your stomach will be a ball.
    It's how to start though, tighten up so you can exercise without flopping around.

    Crunches tighten the core and widen it out. This anchors your fat and spreads it laterally, creating the positive results people see after 2 weeks - 1 month of exercising relatively lightly.
    After this initial benefit, which is really only aesthetic at this point, people hit what's known as their "first plateau" where they realize that if they continue at their current fitness level, they will stay where they are with improvement over a very long period of time. People usually quit at this point.

    If you push past your desire to quit, you're going to start really tightening core and at that point it's just about becoming more knowledgeable about how to work out.

    Like Bruce Lee (I think...) said, you shouldn't have hard sparring matches if your stomach is not developed.
    Same thing with hard exercise: Break the inertia of months of laziness slowly, get warmed up over 2 weeks - 1 month, then go harder.

    I would recommend that you don't exercise after eating - you are more likely to feel unwell as your body is concentrating on digestion not movement.

    I'd also recommend exercising in the morning as it "gets the job done" and later in the day it becomes easier to put off and suddenly its too late.

    The only way to truly flatten your stomach is to workout in the kitchen. In other words eating the right food should be your main objective. In addition to doing a lot of cardio and abdominal training.

    The food you should eat should be alkaline based foods. Your alkaline foods are your fruits and vegetables. These foods will not only give you nutrition but they will burn the fat in your body.

    Here is an example of some of the alkaline food you need to eat in order to burn fat:

    Vegetables: Romaine Lettuce, Kale, Spinach, Broccoli, Red Onions, Avocado, Cucumber, Carrots, Mushrooms, Mustard Greens, Squash, Olives, Tomato Garbanzo Beans etc.

    Fruits: Apples, Bananas, Pineapples, Watermelon, Honeydew water melon, Cantaloupes, Kiwi, Strawberries, Blueberries, Cherries, Figs, Grapes, Mango, Plums, Peaches, Pears etc.

    Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, Walnuts

    Exercises:

    Walking (20-60 minutes), Jogging (15-30), Running (10-20) for 4-7 days a week

    Muscle building: crunches, push ups, squats, pull-ups
