So are arranged marriages still happening around the world? Has any of this moved to the Internet so parents can find their kids a match?

Yes,they still happen at least here in India but as you said, the online matrimonial jargon is catching up fast among the common masses
Marriage,I believe is a very subject issue which totally differs from individual to individual

Arranged marriages are a joke IMO
People should marry who they like and LOVE, not who their parents "think" is best. ;)

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose

Guys, what does "good for family" mean ??
It's you who are getting married not your family,I understand that most of desire a partner who helps around the house as well is independent but aren't you the one's getting married ?

Yes they do happen around the world but a "a good family" is something very personal and subjective. Some people include well being and money into that, good reputation or whatever...But if love is ment I believe arranged marriage has nothing to do with real unexpected love - but for the situations when some happy coincidence occurred.

By "good for family" I sense you are not meaning good for you and your spouse and kids. Rather it appeases your parents. I had a co-worker whose parents were from India and I could hear him every day on the phone with mom (on work time) discussing the relationships she was trying to force him into. Pressure someone into a non-love marriage is good for family?

Exactly my point,it doesn't have to be good for the family
It's always your choice on what/which spouse you should be getting married to,parents can definitely give their opinions but shouldn't really force their kids into a relationship which would eventually turn out to be a burden for the rest of their life

i personally dont really believe in an arrange marriage. no point forcing people to love someone which they might not have feelings for but yet again feelings can be developed but toward the end its depend on individual.

In India and the neighbouring region as well in the Arabian peninsula, arranged marriages are still the prevalent system in their culture.
