I am launching a new website that is based off of video chat for one party to another party. I have struggled with the hosting option. The company that is developing my website does not offer cloud hosting, but wants me to use thier hosting service.
My question is, condidering i will have high performance needs with video chat(I want to make sure I do not have lag in the video) would I be better to go with a cloud based server, or a shared service?

Or.........is there another option I should be looking at?

any specific companies I should evaluate for hosting?

I think you should consider fatcow.com for this! I just moved to them days back and I'm really happy.Their live support is always on, i talked with them 4-5 times in last two days without any waiting. Also they offer 30 day money back guarantee maybe if your video website didn't work fine.
BTW if you really need cloud hosting then easycloud.us is best i found up til now and affordable also.

Like to my post appreciated if it helped.
    Thanks

They highly limit the number of Apache processes, and there is no control panel for you to manage the hosting yourself...emails, databases, etc. Email is managed through Google Apps (Gmail). You pretty much have to contact them to change or manage anything you want to do with your hosting.
