Issues arising from large amounts of comments on a single WP page?

    Hey,

Can you guys think of any issues or glitches (technical or non) that might arise from having a single wordpress page with hundreds of comments? thousands?

    Or would that be fine?

    thanks,

I've seen thousands before, it just makes you scroll really far. It will not be an issue unless people are writing paragraphs and there's many thousands of comments, basically the browser has to render all that text and it can make the page quite large.

The way around this using WordPress is with this plugin:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ajax-comment-loading/

It uses AJAX to load the comments, making this basically a non-issue.

    Hope that helps!

I would defiantly go the Ajax route. Too many comments can really slow a page down.

I think there are plugins that enable you to limit a page to a certain amount of comment and you have to click to 'load more' or click for a 'next page'.

I have had no problems. One of my blogs is quite active and an old post of mine has over 2000 comments. It sucks to scroll through them. Luckily I have someone to catch all the spammy comments. lol

No, I don't allow links. Some have slid past but my assistant catches them.
