Why is it so hard to get an established account?

I've recently been working to get my account established so I can get back into the contest section like I used to do before they made the change.

Since then, I've posted information that I feel is very helpful and I haven't had but 1 like for it.

I wrote a post last week that took me like 20 to 30 minutes about how to get your ads to stick on Craigslist and someone liked it.

Then I logged in today and I only had 1 like (they took it away). So why would they take it away when the post that I provided was full of value and had ZERO affiliate links or anything like that.

This is a weird ass forum...

 

They didn't take it away, a cluster failure happened and DP lost 2 weeks worth of everything, I lost 30 likes. Just go back and repost and doubtless someone will appreciate your efforts and you will be established in short order. Good luck with that.

 

While I certainly understand your point, spoiltdiva, I have to agree with junior777 that it's very frustrating to be excited to have earned your established status only to suddenly lose it all over again. :/

 

Yes it is frustrating but that's the way it goes sometimes. There is nothing that anyone of us can do about it. Might as well just try again to regain what we've all collectively lost. In time we will all be back to where we were, let us just get through this mess as best we can.

 

Yep, I understand. Having run forums as long as I have, I think I have a good idea what happened and I've done it to my members too before (on accident, it happens :/) so I do understand their point of view. I was just very disappointed to log in today to find I'm no longer established. I guess I have a bit more work to do! haha

 

Just tough luck. I'm sure those who received warnings or infractions will be jumping with joy right now. Just keep posting good stuff.

I can't even find my post on Craigslist anymore. I posted my exact procedure that I use in order to get my posts to stick on Craigslist. This was information that I actually could have charged people for and it's nowhere to be found... Not sure what happened.

 

It's been the most talked about thing on DP for the last 3 days, there are threads explaining what happened, there's a big notice on the top of every page...do you go around with your eyes shut or what??

 

didn't remember exactly but I thought I lost almost hundred posts (maybe more > 200) and three times of my 'likes' (>30) due to database crash.
Not big deal. I'm focus to increase my 'Best answer'.
Too bad, I have less time to spend in DP due to my real activity.
New academic year...

You lost 20 likes which means that you received 20 likes in only 2 weeks. This means that members were rewarding you very quickly for your contributions here. If you can manage to get that many likes in so short a time, you can easily do it again.
Come back when you are not so busy, and your likes will rack up again.

 

I still couldn't beat you and Ryan in term of 'likes'.
Notification email is what make me keep coming back to this forum. I login to DP every-time I had an internet connection.
DP is somewhat special for me. I learn many things about blogging and relationship. Maybe I would recommend it to my students in future. Not all of them able to speak English, tough.


Anyway, Congratulation for your new title: "Well-Known member". I really like it.
I'm planning to get it too. Not this year, maybe few years later.

Thanks, I lost 45 trophy points, 30 likes and 1 best answer because of the cluster failure. So far I've gotten 25 trophy points, 12 likes and my best answer back. So you see, it can be done.

 

I envy you for your achievement. 12 Likes in just few days? Impressive.
In two weeks you'll get more than 30 likes for sure.

I did! I suppose it's not impossible, it just might feel like it. Spoiltdiva, I certainly don't envy you what you lost, but like Arick said, it doesn't seem like you're going to have trouble earning it all back. And hopefully this doesn't happen again. haha

 

No that's really not impressive, what *is* impressive is @malky66 getting six likes for just one post yesterday!

Humor works very well here. Laughter takes us away from our stresses and troubles. So if you can manage to make others laugh, chances are the likes will come.
