How should success be determined?

How do you determine success? Is this all in the eye of the beholder or is there really such thing? Do you think you're successful one day and a failure the next? What values do you judge in order to determine your success in life?

 

Life should be about the pursuit of happiness. If you're happy then you're successful.....end of story.

 

Interesting. So what you're saying is that depression is really just laziness to do what will make you happier enough to want to live?

This is completely unrelated but: What if doctors all have it wrong? What if depression really isn't a mental illness that makes you sad? What if it is just a mental illness that makes you lazy?

 

Perhaps you have reading comprehension problems, or you're on strong medication? I cannot even begin to understand where your question came from, and how you came up with "depression" from what I wrote.

It's related because it's the opposite of what you said. Happiness is the opposite of sadness. You said when you have happiness you succeed, which implies if you have sadness you fail.

I might ask you the same. You want to know if I have reading comprehension problems? What does being that have to do with anything? No, I do not. That was uncalled for and it kind of pissed me off.

 

Success is in the eye of the individual and the beholder, although there is a general notion of success in society, as there are general societal notions of most things. As for me, success is enjoyment of life and pleasure.

 

to me, success is when i am happy with my family happy for what I have, not worry for what I don't have.

 

Success can de determined based on people's priorities. For someone who thinks money is most important can be called successful based on his/her wealth accumulation. For me it will be happiness and satisfaction with my life. If I can end my day on a positive note with the feeling of satisfaction with what I did I would be happy and would see myself as a successful person.

 

I so agree with this. Each person seeks happiness in life and if whatever we do gives happiness, it results in making us successful.

I believe success comes in different categories. Obviously most people think of FINANCIAL success. But if you're filthy rich but not happy you're not really successful.

 

I believe success is directly related to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate goal of everyone in life, whether you realise it or not. Want to make money... why? Because you assume that it will make your happy. Want to be a professional footballer... why? Because you assume that it will make you happy.

So all in all as long as you are happy you should deem yourself successful and if there is something that you think will make you happier, then upon completing that you will be more successful in your own eyes (the only eyes that matter).

It depends on the goal.

 

We always talk about making it. But what is Making it? Alot of us just want to share happiness within our own circle, alot of times it seems like we pattern our life around this idea of success. Who you involve in and around your life becomes your world, and like stated above success is measured on accomplishing your goals, stay focused an believe that there is something for you at the end of it all.

 

I know India has a caste system where people are born into their jobs... That sucks.

Success should be determined based on ones own goals. You should not compare people to others success because each persons goals were different from the start.

Success is condition when we smile and happy with the condition. It is as simple as like that.
Success determined by 'perception'. Each people has their own perception. This mean someone may say we are 'successful person', while other may think the opposite.

Success should be determined by 'ourselves'. When we happy with the condition and think it is enough, then we already success.
