    Hello everybody!

I've been away in the web hosting business for some time now and I need your help.

I have a business site that requires 100% uptime all year round and it also have to be fast. The current web hosting that I have from iPage is not good enough, its way too slow.

What is currently the top, best, reliable, fast web hosting company? Hostgator?

    Please recommend

Hostgator is the best if you don't have adult content.

Yes, no adult. Just need it to be really fast, and reliable, supporting a lot of features.

    Anyone else?

go for liquidweb and you should be able to get 100% uptime with them. Most of the others are only 99.99% Hell, I had 10 mins of downtime 3 months ago, so even I cant do 100%.

I left hostgator over 2 years ago due to server issues, and they have fallen pretty badly since then. BTW, if you are not happy with Ipage, then dont go for hostgator as this is supposedly owned and run by the same company, using the same hardware, run in the same datacenter.

I honestly have no idea why everyone is recommending HostGator. After being bought out by EIG they have gone down hill in my opinion.

its simple, even I have 50 reasons for recommending hostgator. Lets face it, if they did away with their affiliate program, noone who used them would recommend them. I admit that in the past their support used to be 10/10 but that said, doesnt matter how good support is if the servers are overloaded.

Oh, I'm not saying that they used to be a bad company -- I actually think they were pretty good before being acquired EIG -- all I'm saying is that once EIG bought them, it seems like their support has been steadily declining.

Depends on how important your site is to you and how important speed is to you. If you can set up your own server then go with a VPS on linode.com, great all around. I use hostgator and other cheap shared hosting for sites that don't get a lot of traffic where speed isn't important to me. For money sites I moved to linode.com years ago and never looked back.

If you want 100% uptime, you're going to pay for it. Amazon, Google, and the other big firms run their own multi-million dollar datacenters, and even they can't keep 100% uptime.

So what are you willing to pay for that? If you're anywhere under several thousands of dollars per month, you can forget it. If you think you're going to get 100% uptime on a $4.00 "unlimited" plan from Hostgator, you're living in a dream world.

    I'm sorry.. I meant 99.9% uptime.

But what really matters to me is the speed of the site.

VPS is too expensive for me at the moment.

it would be better if you can tell us your budget in per month?

a managed vps can be around 20$ a month with cpanel and 1gb ram, 1000GB traffic.

I would recommend you to consider WebhostUK LTD for hosting your website. They are more reliable and cheap hosting service provider in UK. Most important think about them is the kind of support they provide.
