Beta testers - how to?

Hello there i'm new here , nice to see so many nice persons here.

My question , is, i've just launched a website and spent about 300$ in adwords and fb ads, but actually i can't get beta testers, i've got about 30 beta testers no more.

Do you have any clue or solution to make the site more populated at early stages?

Cause the main problem is that i don't have content, what to do?

my website is for barter and trade services and goods and all you can/want to swap , so i would like people to start posting offers.

Just for example :
I swap my car for your bycicle (add car photo)
I design your website logo for an android mobile phone (add some logo design example photo)
Cause once the site got some nice content more people will be interested to try it, you know

Well the reason people are not signing up is probably because your landing page doesnt convert well, I thought I would give you some things to improve, and for that i would need to see the page..

Thanks but the home page is really not the problem, the problem is how to reach beta testers for me, cause the site was shared to ,actually, 600 peoples so i think the problem is how to reach more peoples to see/try it, i guess is not so simple to reach people to barter, do you have any advice about how to?

 

You could always try offering an incentive.

Beta test our new site and receive a gift card for x.
You may even be able to get a discount from the trader you use.
Im sure this will improve conversions

What i mean is , ok you're right, i can give free discounts dunno, but actually i have nothing to donate, and i mean if i say ok guys, test my site i'll give you a free coupon how do the hell i get for example 200 or 300 coupons which is the minumum beta testers total i have to reach?

 

Talk to people like lovefilm, or a small version they give you a code for a month free and you can give it to people on your site.

You get testers they get customers WIN WIN.

 

expanding on that, Netflix has an offer on commission junction that gives you 1 month free, and you get paid for it as well, might be something to look at.

I think the content in the site is very important. My advice, if you don't have content, maybe you could buy some content.

 

High Quality Web Content is needed for any site to be successful. A site with no content is like a sail boat without a sail or a car without a Engine. Search engines search for Keywords to place your site on their search engine. Google wants high quality articles, without error and content that is about your current niche. So one suggestion would be to purchase content.

Another suggestion would be to offer something in return to do your beta. Money, gift offers, free virtual items or something that interest the beta tester. I do many different betas for gaming, software, and apps most of them offer cash or gift cards. Its all about doing the right marketing.

You said you spent $300 on adwords and facebook, what type of ad approach did you use? I know $500.00 for adwords goes rather fast depending on how notice you want to be. You want people to say wow, I want to try this beta, and look what I get for it. Make sure you have them fill out the survey or beta feedback form first and make sure its relevant information you need for you beta. Hope this gave you some insights.

 

Hey yeah content is important , do you know where i can buy content? For example think like if my site is ebay i have to populate offers, how to do that fast?

Buying content is easy, but finding High quality content is hard. You need to find a company that knows the recent Google updates and knows what they are doing. I've been in the content business for over 7 years and my wife longer. Article marketing is the most important way to get noticed on the Internet and get on popular search engines. If I had a little more information regarding your type of website service or app, then I can help you with what aim you should go with article content. We do this for hundreds of clients, it's our life lol.

 

I think you have to make it worth peoples time. Why do they want to go spend 10min on something ? Coupons, money, gift, etc. They need something now. Too many people do the do this and you will get a check in the mail/fake carrot on a stick

I see people try to make trade sites and then try to promote them on Craigslist and it's like- Why would I leave a FREE trade site full of people and listings to go to an empty one that wants to charge me money..?
