On freelancing websites which are still relatively new, should you "attack" the popular types of "requests", or try to hit a niche? This is more targeted towards things like Fiverr.

Always best to create your niche- something that your really good at.
Plus avoid Fiverr- not worth the time- unless $4 a gig makes you happy.

Data Entry is like unskilled labor- almost everyone can do it. It will be almost impossible for a new person to get a foot in that way.

I would like to know how you worked to grow your profile, by "starting from zero" then scaling up... did you offer jobs at a very low rate to start OR did you set your pinpoint price since the beginning? Thanks.

First few jobs I did at a very low rate such $4-$5/hr. After I gathered a few positive feedbacks I steadily upped the rate.
