This may not sound like much of a solution to your problem but it works. It all really comes down to your breathing. Try and slow your breathing rate when you retire to your bed. When your breathing slows your body relaxes, then your heart rate slows as well. When this happens the brain releases melatonin which is the chemical that makes us drowsy and you will nod off and finally get a good nights sleep.
Even though my solution may appear childishly simple, give it a try as you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Good luck to you.

How many hours do you usually sleep in night? I've had similar problems in the past. I have couple suggestions that you might want to try:
    • Don't sleep at day time!
    • Take a walk outside in the evening or make some light exercises.
    • Make sure that your bedroom temperature is not too warm.
    • Don't eat sugar, drink coffee or energy drinks (at least in the evening).
    • Lower lights an hour before bedtime and turn of the lights completely when you go to sleep.
    • Increase your daily activities so that you feel tired in the evening.
It's important that you prepare yourself to sleep well through your daily routines. If you're not "ready" to sleep then you start to thinking all kinds of stuff and also wake up too early. I hope that everything gets better for you.

    • do some light exercise before sleeping such as some pushups or situps.
    • do not drink caffeine or any heavy sugar an hour or sooner before bed.
    • writing down everything on your mind so you can forget it and drift off...
    • try to avoid the tv and computer for 30 min before bed.
    • if it stems from a mental illness seek medical attention and support.

A lot of the posts offer good information and I only have one more thing to add. If at all possible, only use your bed for sleeping at night. if you spend part of the day in bed reading or watching TV, etc., that trains your body to be awake when you are in it. If you only "go to bed" when it is time to sleep, your body will eventually be trained to sleep when you put it in bed. This has worked great for me for decades. Of course, certain nights I may lay awake at night, but it is because I am worried about something, excited about something, etc., but most times, I just sleep.

Im a personal trainer and my training regimen always makes me go to sleep.

Eating well balanced diet will help as well.

Lastly, have very dark blinds to cover your windows.

I used to work overnight shifts back in the day and having pitch black blinds that makes you blind will make sure you sleep.

    Hi
I think this is great, just do not sleep and get more time. After several days you will be soo tired that you will sleep. (Do not drive in this time)

good luck (if this does not work let me know and I will give you more tips.)
