    We hit 50F/10C this afternoon. We are going through winter pothole development on the roads in which a freeze-thaw-freeze-thaw cycle will weaken and tear up the roads. When the next snowstorm hits, the big old snowplows clearing the roads will finish the job and the streets will look like they have been bombed. Keeps the paving contractors in business.

    We have had a lot of days the past 3-4 weeks where I woke up in the morning and it was in the low teens F (12F = -11C) or lower and warmed up some during the day but never got above freezing. There comes a point where it has been cold for so long that EVERYTHING outdoors seems to emanate cold having been chilled down to the core. I still am trying to figure out why I live in New England...

    You know, by now I expected the weather situation to have settled down a bit. However, last Sunday our temps got as high as 54F/12C. The weatherman is now predicting that we will sink to 0F/-17.8C overnight. Quite a swing, even for New England.
