Anybody like art?

Like classic art? Not that modern stuff. I am talking about the impressionists, Monet and Van Gogh, Renoir and Munch? Share some of your preferences if any.

 

I am no expert when it comes to the classics paintings, but I have been to few museums in the U.S. and viewed quite a few classic artists. However, when I went to London and saw a collection of Rembrandts in one of their art museums, I was taken aback. His portraits are amazing. Something about the eyes. While not impressionism, his art is definitely classic.

 

A few years back I spent 3-4 hours at Hermitage Museum in St. Pete, Russia. They say, if you stop by every exhibit there for just a minute or two, it will take two-three days to see everything. That place is huge. But, yeah, I am big time into appreciating the 16th -19th century painters.

Yeah, got into it a few years ago. Love the older paintings and not so much the newer stuff. I try and paint a little with oils from time to time.

 

I don't really much like the art, although I am into photography. They are kind of art in my opinion, especially photographing some models is beautiful.

 

I am not a photographer but I can see many similar aspects to photography and certain forms of art especially landscape paintings and such with lighting and composition.

 

Hell yes. It was a truly awesome place and we definitely didn't see enough. Just before we went in, we got caught in a very heavy rain shower. A sign to stay indoors all day, perhaps. One of my favourite holidays and a city I want to see again. I've visited quite a few galleries and museums in Moscow, too, and anyone who's an art fan shouldn't miss out. In particular, the Fallen Monument Park is cool. I couldn't give a flying monkies who the artist is, I just enjoy art (whether at a gallery, friends or my stepdaughters - she happens to be my favourite artist of all time!).

The Hermitage Museum looks huge and seems to have a massive collection! Wish I could visit. Do you have any pictures of your stepdaughter's art?

 

Not with me, sadly. (I'm at work on night shift right now.) My favourite is one she drew for when my mum and I got married. It was the two of us in our wedding clothes and "I love you" written on it. Very adorable. Another of my favourites is back in Russia, a panda she drew for her mum many years ago. These days, she draws a lot of Anime type pictures, but my favourites are when it's from her own imagination, such as the "Stupid Unicorn" she created.

I spent two full days at the Louvre while I was visiting Paris. I guess that was my most prolonged exposure to art, and I must say I really enjoyed it. I'm no expert (I prefer modern art-forms over the classics), but with those paintings it's hard not to notice the stupendous amounts of work and skill put into the paintings.

 

I adore Van Gogh, but I also like crazy guys like E.Bosh. -- they so surreal long before Dali and company

 

I like art and i have made a lot of paintings on nature's beauty like landscapes, green mountains and waterfalls.
