Come on, guys, let's be honest -- painkilling and all the medical use is good, but God's given us drugs (or we've been so smart to create and find lots of them ourselves), so it's not a question of drug\drug free. It more about which drugs does everyone of us choose.

It's 4.20 at my watch, by the way, time to relax:)

Inevitable death or a healthy lifestyle? In my country, owning as little as a few grams of heroine can bring the death penalty. Drugs are for losers and/or sex maniacs. Period.

    Singapore?

Come on, do you consider MJ a drug? How about tea and coffee? Here in U.S. mormons and hare krishnas consider these substances to be drugs. But are they? :)

That's a bit extreme. I've got no problem taking paracetamol etc - last time I looked it was a drug. So are antibiotics and chemotherapy.

No I was talking about abusing drugs like heroine or cocaine, not drugs that can cure like paracetamol. :)

The context of the thread was drugs for pain relief.

Drugs for sure.. Pain is hard to deal with. You have to be careful with the drugs these days since most are very addictive (opioids).

What if it was pain relief during pregnancy?

I would try to go as long as I could with out using drugs, everyone has their own pain threshold.

Ever heard of mind over matter?

But every labour is different. Those people who reckon they have really quick deliveries - they probably don't but their body has been painlessly going through the "warm up" while for others it's all on! And it all depends on the support you have too - with my first I was so excited I couldn't sleep, but had I known how long the "warm up" was going to be I wouldn't have given in to the excitement. I needed someone to knock some sense into me :) Both my babies were posterior which meant they didn't put the right amount of pressure on the cervix which slowed everything down. After the second I asked the midwife if I'd done the right thing having an epidural - she said because it had all taken so long I would have been a wreck if I hadn't. Instead I was happy and relaxed when I got back to the ward and most importantly when #1 arrived I looked and acted normal.

So "mind over matter"? Not in every case.
