professional musician (trumpet.) I made $2 playing in a band at a Christmas fair at a church hall. I believe that I was 12-13ish and it was the first money that I was paid professionally. Slowly. it turned into a pretty good schedule of playing weddings, parties, military funerals, etc.

Thanks for asking. Unfortunately, I stopped playing trumpet many decades ago. I did try to pick it up again a few years ago while giving my son trumpet lessons in the hopes that he would follow my footsteps, but he did not like playing the instrument, so that only lasted a few months. Playing the trumpet requires that you build up the muscles of your face/lips/cheeks (your embouchure) for many months before you can play at a reasonable level, and I have not been at the professional level since my 20's. I keep saying that when things slow down, I would like to get back into it, but that time never seems to come.

My first job was uh... I believe at a tanning place as an backup assistant (emergency assistant) but only lasted about a year then I called it a quit due to being constant insulted by the owner along with some threats here and there.

My first job was a carpenter at the age of 13. here in the states you can not work construction until 18 but as i knew people that owned construction companies i was able to do some work under the table after school and on the weekends. At the age of 18 i was classified as a journeyman carpenter and made as much as the guys that had started at 18 and had done it for years. There was quite a few people that didnt like me for it as i knew as much as them when everyone my age was just an apprentice.

I continued that trade until 4 years ago when i got into a motor accident that ended my career. I done construction for about 32 years and when i am old enough to retire i will have two pension in the trades from the carpenters and painters unions.

My first "job" was as an assistant at a local electronics company, I fucked up pretty much every task and I'm pretty sure the owner still hates me.

My first job was at a grocery store. It was not a glamorous or fun job at all, and the pay was not good, but it taught me about basic economics and how to save as much money as possible.

working in a cafe in a trendy part of town on Saturdays back when Saturday trading wasn't allowed but the tourists needed places to go so this area thrived. Had to catch 2 busses there, 2 back again but I met great people, my boss and his ex wife showed me that civility after divorce is possible which was an eye opener.

Now the shops are open all day everyday and I wonder if having just one day off a week wouldn't do all of us the world of good.
