haha just read this. It's kind of intrusive. I used to ignore my parents calls quite often. They always called at such bad times. This lady got so fed up she taught herself how to make an app.

    It goes for $1.99 http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/technology/wp/2014/08/18/houston-mom-created-an-app-that-prevents-teens-from-ignoring-calls/

That's brilliant - I know some people who could use that. My kids overshare so I have the opposite problem :)

Yeah, she's just won a lottery. I wonder if Google or Apple are already talking to her to buy it out. For like $1-$2 bil.

OMG this is awesome! My daughter does this to me and my wife all the time and it really pisses me off! I'm always telling her, "what if it was an emergency??" She claims she "didn't hear it" or something similar, but my wife and I actually caught her hitting the ignore button when we called her from the parking lot of her school one day. I'm definitely going to check this out!

The app made it on national news yesterday here in the U.S. My kids mostly set the phone to not even ring if it is a call. However, the phone lights up and almost explodes if a text comes in. So, I have taken to texting them as opposed to calling and I get a pretty reasonable response, for the most part.

Note that my wife is the absolute WORST when it comes to answering her cell phone. First, more times than not, she leaves the house without her phone. On the rare occasion when she does take the phone with her, it is usually buried in her purse so deep that she does not hear it ring. It boggles my mind that she has this attitude and there have been times where there were emergencies and we simply could not contact her. So the app would not even be noticed by her, for the most part. If someone can come up with a solution that will fix this problem, I would personally pay hundreds of dollars for it.

I might use aluminum or something lighter like that as it would need to be secured for 24x7x365 coverage...;)

Of course, knowing my wife, she would complain about this simple, yet effective, solution because she does not feel that there is any problem to be solved...

Don't mean to hijack the thread. But is it true that you can tell if they hit the ignore button if it only rings once? I heard that on "About Last Night".

I don't think so. Sometimes when you call and they're on the phone with someone else, it will only ring once then go to vm without them even knowing you called.
