I was checking out a new gadget for the ipad that looks pretty cool but this statement on their site amused me

Google is no longer a workplace but somewhere you come "out of" like any other university graduate.

Silicon Valley mindset. San Jose is one of my least favorite places to visit for business, as a result.

Actually went in to Google offices earlier this year. They were mortified because none of the Google people could get their video conferencing working for the meeting. They did not look like ivy league then. LOL.

    lol, google it :)

It used to be the top 4 US universities and was called Ivy because 4 would be written as IV, or so the legend goes. I gather there are now more than 4 in the group. Google isn't a university, however, and therefore doesn't qualify.

That's interesting. I had heard that they were the "Ivy League" because as older, established institutions, all of their buildings are literally covered in ivy, which takes a looong time to happen when you first put up a building. I went to a "baby ivy league" school (the next tier) that was very close to Harvard and we partied there all of the time. Buildings all covered in ivy. Now I live near Brown U., another ivy league and they have a lot of ivy, too. Many years ago, I sold fundraising software to the largest schools, so I managed to visit all of the ivy and baby ivy league schools. A lot of ivy on the buildings.
