What benefit do you get from a TYPO?

Everybody knows that a typo is not a good thing. It makes misunderstanding happen. But how can some webs like dribbble.com could be? What do they do with its typo? They must have taken good advantage of it. I am curious about it.

Our site is Ballloon.com, we have been asked many times of why there is a typo. What can I do with this cute little imperfection?

I can see how a typo is very effective in terms of organic traffic as many people often mistype when searching for a specific term and you wouldn't probably rank first for a common word but you would probably be ranking first for a common mistyped word. If this makes sense :)

As for your question, basically, you can be creative and create a 'reason' of why your brand is called 'Ballloon'. Relate this reason to the nature of your business. What does the extra 'L' refer to? Maybe a specific characteristic of your product? Easier said than done but good luck anyway.

    1. Thank you for your wishes. The extra L was taken because the 2 L’s domain has been taken, plus we are not so creative at naming out domain, so, what I’m supposed to do if I want Ballloon to show up people are actually searching balloon?

What can I do to connect Ballloon with balloon on Google, when the site is not that great?

At one point in the past, Nasa.com was directing to a porn site lol. Typos and misspellings can be beneficial, as long as the Google auto-correct doesn't kick in ;).

And less people will search using " function, common people will search using balloon instead of "balloon".
If so, then different search results will shows up. :D

Surely, if your typo is a 'proper name' (a website name), then who is to tell that it's an actual tyo, and not intended? Wasn't www.de'lic'ious.com this way for a long time?
