A Brilliant Placement?

    Check this out

Bottom right side. If this is in fact against ToS, I urge you NOT TO REPORT IT!

Don't be a cop. My intention is to show everyone this placement I saw, that's all.

    I think it is brilliant.

That one is a bit sketchy. I think a deeper reading into AdSense TOS is needed on my part. I know they do not allow images near the ads, but thats an image behind the ad. I don't know if they specify that, but I can see the decision going both ways.

It's clever but will it get better CTR than the larger blatant ad on the left?

I personally dont see anything wrong with it...

And why can't we report it if it was violating the TOS?

You can report it, but why the hell would you? If you see someone parked in a handicaped parking spot, do you go and see if they have the appropriate tags and call the cops?

No. You dont. Because that is not your job. You reporting someone's eles site that may or may not be in violation is none of your fricking business. Will it end with more $$$ in your pocket? NO. So relax.

And Pleeeeeeease, do not go and take the moral high ground of "Publishers like that ruin it for the rest of us blah blah blah."

Besides, this is not a blatant violation, so who the hell are you to do that? Shouldn't you be busing increasing your own revenues?

Its just a adsence template. personally I see nothing wrong with them as I just see it as a blending technique but the owner will need to get a yes or no answer from google to be 100% sure its not violating TOS>

I think it would be a jelousy reason as to why you report them they are earning higher $$ because they are breaking TOS ect. all stupid reasons.

    just my opinion.

You are coming across a little defensive for someone who claims not to be associated with the site. As a result certain people may start to think that this is spam.

Nobody here would have thought twice about reporting the site. Well, not until you started to make such a big deal out of it anyway ;)

As for the ad placement, I see nothing special here.

Who are you talking to? I am at least a little known here, what with 800 plus posts and a decent amount of positive iTrader ratinngs (about 27 or so). I am a known quantity. If I say I am not associated with it, I am not.

Plus, if I thought that my handiwork was so brilliant, I certainly would not post it in a forum where only 10% of the members have ideas while the other 90% steal them.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the lively discussion about the page. I'm one of the site owners.

We got the idea from a ProBlogger article:
    http://www.problogger.net/archives/2006/02/17/designer-adsense-ads/

    and Karen Cheng's blog:
    http://www.karencheng.com.au

We definitely get a higher CTR w/ the ad on the left, but we thought the napkin design was something fun to play with.

I don't think there is any need to be condescending, I simply made an observation. Personally I don't care whether you are associated with the website or not. I am just saying how it may seem to others, surely you can see that?

I also think that your post count and iTrader ratings are totally irrelevant to this topic. Who do you think you are? Am I not allowed to express my opinion because you disagree with it?

    Grow up.
