Just plug in your iPhone and make sure you enable syncing for it under iTunes... works fine for me.

Syncing is the ONLY way, for everything - MOVIES, MUSIC, CALENDAR etc.

I have to say im sorry... i thought i had found someting wrong about the iPhone but i have to admit i was wrong..

Ive created a playlist called iPhone and everytime i want to add a song to my iphone, i just send it to the playlist and click on "sync" and thats it..

its easier than ever... dont know why i wanted to drag and drop to the iphone itself when i can drag and drop it to the iphone playlist and sync it whenever i want

    thanks everybody for the help,

I think your device is infected with some Virus and that is why its not letting you to perform required actions , i would like you to recommend AVG 8 and scan your device with and then try to copy your songs

Or you can try to download 3rd party program...Really makes music and videos sharing pretty simple and enjoyable. Wish this can help and good luck.

Add songs to iphone via iTunes often delete old files on your iPhone. You can try a third party program and add songs following this guide

I have encountered the same problem and I dealt it like this.
1.) With your iPhone plugged in, click on the iPhone button near the top right of iTunes next to iTunes Store.

    2.) Click "On This iPhone

    3.) Click "Add To"

4.) Then you can drag music to your phone from your albums, songs list, playlists, etc.
Hope that can indeed help you transfer music from iPhone to iTunes successfully! If not, you can employ an application to help you transfer music from iphone to computer.

Connect your phone to iTunes and do the following:
    1. On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings check "Sync only checked songs and videos"
    2. In your music library check all the songs you want to sync to your phone
    3. Check "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
    4. Sync your phone
