Next big thing should be able to resolve current issue faced by consumer such as something that can greatly simplified their daily routine.
    Food for thought.

You're completly right, that's it. Who wants to hold that big device on his hand while he can use his small watch to do all he needs

I don't even wear a watch. Now everyone owns a smartphone, I'd imagine I am not the only one.

Watches certainly won't be replacing smartphones.

That's the thing. A small watch can't do everything a smartphone can do.

Look at people's behaviour using smartphones. Screen sizes of smartphones are getting BIGGER not smaller. Why do you think that is?

The next big revolution online which will definetely change our perception on numbers and time,
will be the implementation on nanotechnology in electronic devices.

I think that we are long overdue for technology that disrupts the current search environment. My guess is that it will involve AI and a move towards personalization in which the code learns how you search, what you mean when you write something, what your interests are, etc. A companion type of app that provides answers and advises you all day long. Might even be proactive.

When I was a kid, I read a science fiction story about a guy who had a small electronic implant behind one of his ears that was basically a computer/companion that would advise him in his daily dealings. I think that this type of assistance might be one of the next big things.

    Bendy "flexible" (graphene) screens.

    Newspapers with moving text/images.

Flying cars / jetpacks and manned quadcopters.

    Hoverboards.

Retina contacts (contact lenses that transmit an image directly to your retina).

    Interactive holographic displays.

    Driverless "crash-proof" cars.

    Nano-Architecture.

    Virtual reality headsets (VR Gear).

    Emotionally intelligent machines.

I do not necessarily agree with having watches replacing everything and especially smartphones, it took a while for people to get used to smartphones and the idea of them and it will take much longer. Unless we have watches with projectors with which we can project on bigger size screens when needed. Right now content is very very big and the next big thing needs to be on that line, people consume content more than ever and hence if you look at the trend, we had big mobile phones, it went smaller and smaller and now it is back up to big screens. It is not reducing.
VR devices will be very big, on marketing side user online behaviour prediction is going to be huge to adapt app and websites based on their needs. Well let's wait and see what is gonna be big.

I think that one of the problem with watches will be the keyboard. My understanding is that tablet sales are also declining because people do not like typing on them, especially for business. I like to check emails on my phone, but hate replying to them from the phone.
