Has anyone on here heard of Ray Kurzweil's predictions? I am worried. I do not want them to come true. I do not want to upload my brain and live in a virtual world.

It's not happening anytime soon but you can help by ensuring the world becomes a place that people want to be "real" in.

On the other hand if you vote Trump in then a virtual world might be awesome. I can become a man and therefore won't have to worry about the misogyny that will be flourishing under his leadership.

I have a koi pond and i would not want to live in a fake world. I like it when my fish come up for food and stick their heads above the water. Kurzweil predicts that there will be a new world government by 2020. People always compare the brain to computers, when in fact the brain does not function like a computer. The brain can not be programmed to do different things like a computer.

I just read one page which looked at the predictions from an entrepreneurial standpoint and agreed with the direction of most - but not this one
It may be that "normal human eating" becomes a luxury for the rich as the global population exceeds our ability to feed it - but given the number of food shows on TV, the photos on instagram, the recipes websites, I'm not expecting humans to give up eating real food anytime soon.

Ha ha!! Trump is not what your liberal media in NZ portraits him to be. Really nothing to worry about. Some of the liberal media's attacks on him here in the US are so pathetic that I am appalled that there are folks out there that are actually buying that nonsense.

P.S. that's not to start a whole new discussion on Trump here. Just saw your comment, thought it was funny.

As far as predictions, back in the late 60s the Star Trek creators introduced flip cell phones, voice recognition, universal translators, tablets and a few other features and gadgets that actually exist today.

I was just watching a TV show that covered a few topics, including the idea of uploading one's brain to a computer. So, I thought about that a bit and let's say that you could develop an I/O interface that could transfer all of your brain's "settings" to an exact map of your brain neurons on a computer. Let's say that is done and your body dies shortly thereafter. Would the program in the computer actually be me or would it just be a program that believed it was me? Yes, it would have all of my memories and believe it was me, but I am not convinced that I did not die when my body died.

Going a bit further, what if I did this and then my body kept on living? Obviously, it would be "me" in my body and something else in the computer. Bottomline, I just do not see this approach as viable in terms of achieving immortality, even if the technology allowed the data transfer to happen.

BTW, @qwikad.com is dead on: if your only source of information about Trump is via the liberal media misrepresentations and outright lies, you have an incorrect impression of Trump.

I agree. I do not think that it would happen even if it was doable. The navy planned to build a "thinking machine" over the course of a year in the 1950s and that was never done. Brains and computers are not compatible. The brain is not a computer and a computer is not a brain. We humans do not even understand sentience, and how are we going to build a thinking machine if we do not understand sentience? AI right now is pseudo intelligence. It is not actually thinking at all.

Of course it wouldn't -_-. If someone understood your personality and could copy you exactly, why would people think you would transfer to them LOL. Even if a computer copied your brain, why would you think you'd transfer over? Ridiculous.

This reminds me of that Outer Limits episode where they had "teleporters" that worked by copying your DNA. Then the destination teleporter just made a clone of you while the departing teleporter killed you. LOL. My gawd.

The way it worked was, you'd be sedated, and somehow the destination teleporter's cloning capabilities could somehow capture your brain's current state too, along with your DNA.

So you'd go to sleep, then your clone would wake up at the destination with all your memories. Even if it's your body, your mind, your memories, is it really you? NO LOL.

That's like identical twins who also have the same personality. Just because you put one to sleep in Florida, then transport the other one to New Mexico, doesn't mean they're the same person and you can kill the Florida one.

But, the scary this is the atheists (because they don't believe in a soul) would LOBBY for LAWS approving this kind of killing if you could identically copy someone's brain & DNA. They'll say: "they're physically the same, they're mentally the same -- therefore it's 'you'. You can kill the other one."

I am an atheist, but i agree that someone transported like that or someone whose brain would be uploaded would not be the same person. Especially if once someone's brain has been uploaded, their intelligence was made greater. They would be a completely different person with a different consciousness.

Kurzweil predicted that people living in a virtual world would happen because of AI, but there are other predictions of humans becoming cyborgs. I hope that does not happen. I do not want to be a cyborg and have the internet in my head. I know a lot of people have devices implanted like pacemakers and i am not against that. I am just against people merging with machines.

During the World War II the Nazis experimented with hallucinogens that made people do anything they were told to do. So in a way you do not have to have a chip in your brain or to be connected to the Internet to be manipulated by some evil genius.
