Why are forums so popular?

Are there any specific reasons why forums in general are popular? Why do people actually join different types of forums like a blog forum or a travel forum?

 

I think that people are looking to find solutions to their problems or share an interest or passion for something and want to indulge themselves.

 

Why wouldn't they be? They allow like-minded people to connect online. Besides finding information and buying stuff, isn't that the whole point of using the Internet?

 

Forums aren't popular; they have been declining for years

 

I don't see social media replacing forums, they serve a different purpose.

 

people like forums because you meet people there, you talk in threads and you get to know each other. its fun, you become friends. its a place to go where things are familiar and the people around make you comfortable

theyre also a source of information and resources

blogs are popular because people can make money on them, thres no conversation or anything real personable going on

if anyone says forums are dieing thats bullshit, 10 years ago you didnt even probably belong to a forum where everyone got along and you certainly dont know how many forums existed then and how many do now, or the amount of activity on them all

 

Try having an indepth conversation with someone on FB lol I suppose there are groups but it's not the same.

 

I prefer DP over my FB page. I hardly post to FB. My wife gets me tagged here and there, but as for me, I can live without FB no problem.

Actually, forums are getting replaced with social networks. They are only popular among specific-targeted communities, like webmasters f.e.
I don't know any real general forum that is popular nowadays

Forums can serve different purposes for different people.
Some people post on forums looking for answers to specific questions and if the person is in a good forum they can get good advice.
Some people go to forums looking to hang out with like minded people.

Forum are popular because we get lots of useful information on almost every topic.

 

I actually thought that the forums is starting to struggles in general, since the social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Maybe it's me, but if forums is still growing bigger and the same as before then it is because forums give the people a way to gather information and to build a network with others. For example, a blogger who's looking for some networking with other bloggers and share each knowledge with each others to help themselves. Not just a blogger but everything else, web developer, web designer, internet marketer and more.

 

There are forum that are popular because they post great content and accept guest post ! Nad also they uses SEO to make theyre rank high !

 

Facebook pages are limited in how they should look. It's always blue, with the exception of having different background images.
