I just sold my website of Flippa need help please

    Hello,

I sold my website on flippa and started escrow.

The buyer is wants to create a mirror of the site first on his personal server. Should I let him create a mirror site, I am not really sure what this is. He wants to do this before transfering domain, etc.

I am wondering if anybody else sold a site and what is the best way to transfer site and domain. Any suggestions will be very helpful as I have doubts about the buyer. Although he already put the money in escrow, but I guess he can cancel it if nothing gets transfered and he ends up with the mirror site.

Don't do it, there is no logical reason for him to need a mirror of your site, it's a scam.

Yup, @malky66 is correct. Don't do it. I would stop all contact with this person and move forward with selling the site to someone else.

I can't. He over bid everyone. The sale is now in escrow. My question is should I let him mirror the site to do testing on his personal server, or ask him that I want to transfer everything and end escrow as soon as possible. He wants a complete copy test first, so I am just worried he can cancel escrow after his mirrors the site without me transfering anything.

I thought we made that quite clear, I wouldn't and I've been around the block more than a few times, like I said there is no logical reason for him to want a mirror of the site.

Once he sends the payment on flippa and the money are locked then he can create what he want.

P.s record the process when you push the domain.

Make no mistake, he is scamming you. Refuse to do the mirror site thing and offer to cancel the deal. You want to extricate yourself from this deal and move on.

Hi Jrbiz, thank you very much for the advice here. I already contacted the seller and told him i will not mirror the site. I already feel more comfortable with this. I told him we can transfer everything and close escrow same day...still waiting for his response, but i am glad for your advice. Thanks again for taking the time to give your knowledge here. I am very greatful.

I would be saving all your conversations, and or screenshot them, as you may need them for flippa, or escrow. If you get scammed you are going to want flippa to reverse any applicable fees.

Typically, once a site is won, the transaction is settled within 3 days. If the money is in escrow, there is no excuse for the sale not being finalised quickly.

The only reason he'd want a mirror of the site is to help him do due diligence - and even then I'd say a loud No.
The time for due diligence has passed and he needs to complete the deal.
Follow the advice @matt_62 has given you and tread carefully

I would highly advise against it, it sounds as scam.

Here is my recommendation based on previous sales. write a contract and both of you sign it ( explain what is he paying for and what he will receive ).

If the amount is higher than 1k, make sure it is going throw escrow and break the transaction in 2 parts, first for content where he pay the majority of the money and second part of transaction where you pass him the domain

I sold some sites on Flippa too, the process is simple. After selling, you need to transfer domain to the buyer and then send him the full website source code (via his email or mediafire). Buyer must buy his hosting first before buying my site, I noticed this in the listing. That's all.

Just ask him to pay first via escrow than start process untill finished

First I would be doing once he asked to mirror my site is report it to flippa. NO reason why he would want to do that other than to rip you off.

    What is the update?

My initial thought was he wanted to do the mirror to his personal PC as a backup before any transfer. I could be wrong... the money is IN escrow...

Ask him why he need to do that. You'd showed him the live version of your site but why he need to install more on his local PC. I think there's something wrong here. Be careful!

I think this person, just doesn't want any downtime on the site.

If they set up the site first (Mirror It), then you transfer the domain, no traffic will be lost and all visitors will be happy.

If the money is in escrow and you can prove you gave him the files and pushed the domain name, I don't see what the issue is.

If it's a site that has no traffic, then it doesn't make much sense.
