Back in January I had the strangest flu I've ever had. Achy bones, dry cough, fever. It only lasted 2 days but I could hardly move. I too suspect that it is possible that I had Covid-19 and didn't even know it. Nobody was really talking about it then and we didn't practice or even talk about social distancing.

I really think the only difference between the medical staff and other people is that we are still working. And work is in my opinion the major balancing part in our life, we lose that everything seems a little weird. So for me I really can't feel the difference!

Wow, it is really interesting to have an internist on this forum. How is it at your hospital? Are you in a hot spot for Covid-19 or relatively unscathed?

I am working in a relatively low-risk town but we are getting more and more COVID cases everyday.

The coronavirus has ruined my job. I am now stuck at home and bored to death, When the people tell you to work at home they certainly know that some uf us cant actually work at home. Well they are not wrong to do so. I just hope that the coronavirus ends soon. I need to get back to my old life fast.

I'm beginning to have some trouble collecting rents. I tell the tenants that they have all received money from the government to offset being unemployed. But they all know that the laws prevent evictions during the pandemic.
I've had to settle for half rent along with post dated cheques. Failing that they are working for me to pay off the balance. (painting, cutting grass, falling trees, roofing, putting on siding, etc.)

My life is pretty much same, except that I am missing some food items like chicken and meat.
Non-veg is not cooked in our house, and I had to order from restaurant. Now that is not happening and I am really starting to miss eating non-veg.

By the way, I don't think this is a temporary problem.
As long as even 1 single person is infected, then there is a full chance of us coming back to current situation.
1 person affects 3-4 unknowingly, even before he himself could know that he had corona, and the chain continues.

Once this lockdown is over, we will see second phase of corona very soon I think.
If a few people remained infected at the time when lockdown ends, and the virus spreads again, will they go back in lockdown again?
How many times can they lockdown entire countries?

Lockdown is not a solution, not even a prevention.
Lockdown is a quick and very bad way of handling a bad situation.
Instead, they should have taken steps to provide breathing equipment to hospitals.

I wouldn't go counting on that. We might get antivirals but if this thing mutates then vaccines might have limited use.

If I was in a career impacted by this - and my daughter is - I'd be retraining as fast as I can into a career that is accessible and where you can work from home or at least work in a limited "bubble" of people.

Nonsense. We have had flu shots for DECADES and it has NOT stopped the flu. In fact, HUNDREDS of thousands die from the flu every year. Keep believing your pipe dream if you want to, but no matter how good a vaccine they make, CV will NOT be stopped in its tracks.

This crisis and it shutdown is an excellent example of both the power and the ineffectiveness of government. For those who have not been exposed to socialism, it should be an eye-opener as to what politicians and bureaucrats will do with more and more power. The first thing you will learn about government is that it is not staffed by rocket scientists. Politicians and government bureaucrats are not the "best and the brightest" by any means. In my experience, they are typically people with lower than average intelligence driven by a higher than average craving for power.
