Are the forum links still working?

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum. I would like to know your opinion about backlinks from the forums. Yesterday one of my clients said that he would no longer buy links from the forums because it no longer work. He says that 3 guest posts a month is better than 50 forum links. What do you think about this? Is it even possible to compare these ways of getting backlinks? I'm interested to hear the opinion of each of you. I have been posting links on the forums for 4 years now and have never heard of this before. A guest posting and forum linking strategy is fine, but can't you just limit yourself to guest posting?

    Thanks in advance

All I can say is that SEO is very dynamic now. The old strategies don't work nowadays. We should use new social media, guest posting, landing pages and other ways, But as for me - forum posts still work!

Any links work, the question is only
the ratio of the price to the result.

Yes, forum links can still be useful for SEO. They can help to increase a website's domain authority and link diversity.

Guest posts and forum links are both types of backlinks that can be used to improve the visibility and credibility of a website. Backlinks are links from other websites that point to your website. When a search engine, like Google, crawls the web, it follows these links to discover new pages and to understand the structure of the web. The more high-quality, relevant websites that link to your site, the more likely it is that your site will be considered an authoritative source on the topic and will be ranked higher in search engine results.

There are a few key differences between guest posts and forum links that you should consider when deciding which type of backlink to pursue:
    1. Quality of links: Guest posts are typically considered higher quality links than forum links. This is because guest posts are generally more carefully vetted and are more likely to be published on authoritative, high-traffic websites. Forum links, on the other hand, can be more hit-or-miss in terms of quality, as they may be posted on lower-traffic or less reputable forums.

    2. Relevance: Guest posts are generally more relevant to your website than forum links. This is because guest posts are written specifically for the website where they are published and will usually be about a topic related to the guest blogger's area of expertise or the website's content. Forum links, on the other hand, can be less relevant, as they are often posted in discussions that are only tangentially related to the topic of your website.

    3. Diversification: Guest posts and forum links can provide different types of diversification for your backlink profile. If you want to diversify your backlink profile you can use both type of links. Guest posts from various authoritative websites and forum links from diverse group of forums.

    4. Branding: Guest posts can help to promote your brand, as they usually include a byline or bio section that can include links to your website. Forum links, on the other hand, typically do not provide any branding opportunities.

    5. Content: Forum links can be used to promote your content, but they are less effective than guest posts. Because the text of a forum post is usually shorter than a guest post, it is more difficult to include a detailed description of your content and to include multiple links to it.
Overall, guest posts are generally considered to be a more effective and higher quality form of backlink than forum links. However, both types of links can be useful for improving the visibility and credibility of your website, and a well-rounded backlink profile will likely include a mix of both.

I agree that everything is changing very quickly, we do not have time to rebuild from one promotion method to another, but nevertheless, it will definitely not be worse from quality links on thematic forums. If they don't work today, they may be counted tomorrow. Nevertheless, try to keep up with the times ;)

Basically, if (1) you control the link (for example, a forum profile or footer), Google is not impressed. If (2) someone else controls the link and chooses to link to you, Google counts that as a vote to you from someone else who values the content they're linking to. Google is smart enough to figure out the difference between (1) and (2).

It all depends. It doesn't matter if it's a guest post or a forum link. You always need to make sure that such a link redirects traffic to the site.

This statement from your client is incorrect as there's numerous variables within backlink quality/effectiveness. This is only his opinion.

You could setup a test site, publish 2 articles targeting the same keyword with the same keyword density, etc and get them indexed. Then point 50 forum backlinks to one article, then 3 guest posts to the other article. But like I mentioned there are so many variables to quality/effectiveness/authority of each backlink/site.

Niche relevant and high authority forum links can help, but wouldn't be my first choice. I'd avoid backlinks from non-relevant niche forums and ones with shady links (Casino, Pharma, etc) and a high amount of external/out-going links. User generated content like comments aren't the most authoritative backlinks.

The value of backlinks from forums can vary depending on the quality and relevance of the forum and the specific link. In general, backlinks from reputable, high-authority websites will generally have more value than links from lower-quality websites. Guest posting on reputable websites can also be a valuable way to obtain backlinks, but it is important to ensure that the guest post is of high quality and relevant to the website's audience.

In summary, backlinks from forums can be valuable as long as they are from reputable and relevant sources. However, it's important to have a diverse backlink profile and not to rely solely on any one type of backlink. Guest posting can also be a valuable way to obtain backlinks, but it's important to ensure that the guest post is of high quality and relevant to the website's audience.

    Hi!
As a blogger, I've observed that while forum links can still contribute to your website's overall SEO performance, their impact isn't as potent as it once was. Google's algorithms have evolved substantially over time, prioritizing high-quality, relevant content over simple backlinks. Forum links can still provide some value, but they are not a magic bullet for ranking. It's essential to focus more on creating valuable, engaging content and developing a comprehensive SEO strategy.

Yeah, it's true that the simple backlinks nowadays are not having the best impact. Anyway, if these backlinks are surrounded by high-quality content that might help people, they will better impact your rankings.

Forum links may become outdated or broken over time due to changes in forum structure, content removal, or other reasons. It's always a good practice to verify links before accessing them and report broken links to forum administrators if necessary.

Is the same as when you are driving around and see a billboard by the road with "If you see this, it works"
As long people visit, post and reply on forums, all links works. Now the quality varies based on the quality of the post, but it still works.
