Comments for Adsense placement

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by nks, Jan 1, 2007.

Hi, I need to ask for opinions with regards to Adsense placement.

I have made two banner at the top of the site. I'm not sure if this is the "optimised" position for my site.

Hope I can get some comments please :)

Use only one at the top: the one with 4 links, make the font the same size as the articles . Place another one in the right side after the "popular content".Nice site.

Thank you, goscript. I'll change them immediately.

Except the one with the 4 links. How to make them have the same size font?

Also, what ad-size should be used at the right side after "popular content"?

The changes to adsense look better. I caught the old look one minute before you made the change.

Overall this site is very pleasing and informative, I actually found myself browsing your blog entries.

    Here's to your success,
    Mike

Site is very clean. I like the ads at the top, blends nicely. Also the ad in the sponsors section should covert well. Maybe you want to move it higher.

I would rather not add the adsense on the top of the page. It draws away the attention from your site. I would rather add it to the right column over change language. Anyone who is interested in your content would crawl down there and would at least read some of your content before he would click on a Google ad.

When i had my site up, I placed it on the right hand side of the page out of the way. Most of the important information is on the top and left hand sides of most websites.

Thanks, Mike. I've followed the advice given by goscript - to remove one banner from there. It does make the site cleaner.

I'm happy to hear that you enjoy the entries written there :) Hope it will build on more success.

Yes, I do realise that the ads at the top do blend better now.

There is still a little coding work to be done on the sponsor section, which I can't seem to change to adjust the alignment of the adsense link. It does look out of place. Will try to refine that, thanks for highlighting that :)

No?? hmm... well, the main purpose is such that I can have people clicking on the ad, so I won't mind if that really draws away the attention.

I am kind of curious of how people click on ad.

So, if the ad is out of the way, does that improve the Adsense placement? I understand good content drives more traffic, but a bad link placement means no one is ever going to click on that.

The link block on the side with the "bullets" beside them are a nice touch i haven't seen before, but i believe against the TOS. see here

Actually, you may be right. I have come across Google's new policy of preventing users to insert images beside Google Ad.

I have thought about it as well - and I am going to read through the policy thoroughly once again.

It's quite controversial in my case actually:

    1) The new policy targets at Google Ad (not links)
    2) The new policy targets at images that are misleading, i.e. image of apples - to click on the ad on the right, whereas in my case, there is no association between the ad and the bullets.

Despite these, I am also not wanting to risk being banned.

I agree with your point 2. but not with point 1. But unfortunately your point 2 is irrelevant because there is also a part of the new policy stating this (which the above link showed):
The bullets are definitely there mimicking the surrounding content, therefore against the TOS.

I'm not sure if I am particularly about English.

The policy said the ad should not be formatted to mimick the content description, whereas in your statement - the bullets mimic the surrounding content.

Well, I didn't format the ad to blend into the content where user might be misled to click on them. I presume that's what the policy means.

But, this controversy can go on and on.... :) I guess I'd better be on the safe side and modify/remove those.

didn't see that... probably not. They specifically only allow two words which I believe are "Advertisements" and "Sponsored Ads"

Oh.... that's true. I read that before, and I sort of let that slip my mind.

I used to have the word "Sponsors" before I changed it to Good Ads.

Thanks for reminding me.... yeeeks.... Google sure has lot of regulations on these stuffs.

Good site very appealling and the information is also very useful for me. Regarding the bullets in the link units may be against TOS. Just drop an email asking about this issue with Google Adsense support and you can solve this problem easily.
