Refer to Adsene's guidelines for forums:

    http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html

Once your placement is perfected, try blending the text and url together.

Make your links slighty darker than the regular site links.

Personally, I think the adsense guide is more beneficial than any advice I have. Trust what they have written. They've tested these things before.

    Good luck with your site.

    rafke,

Sign up at Commission Junction @ www.cj.com

It's the easier way to manage multiple affiliate relationships.

They have a Games & Toys section that would really boost your earnings.

Also, by targeting, I mean providing relevant ads to your target audience. In other words, display ads that you think "video game users" would find useful. Try those games and toys section of CJ.

Why? because after visiting your site, I went to addicting games.com. Trust me, I'm not the only person to ever do this, so you might as well send them directly via ads.

    Hope this helps.

Nice blending job, but I have a few suggestions.

    1. change the url color from green to black. I feel the green is an eye distractor.

    2. Ads perform better when placed after every other post, so position your 300x250 ads on the home page after the 1st and 3rd post. You should see a gain in earnings almost immediately.

    3. How does the 720 ad at the top perform? If it doesn't perform well, its probably because you have a blog and people visit to read your entries.

Optimize the two ad units after every other post on the homepage, and try this tip if the top ad doesn't perform well:

160x skyscaper. Figure out your average post length and position it to appear when the reader finishes your posts.

    http://blogging-4beginners.blogspot.com

    Tips:

    1. Place a 300x250 ad directly after your single page entries.

    2. Change the ad title to a darker blue, slighty darker than your regular links.

    3. Ditch the top right sidebar ad, and place a link unit there.

    4. Add other revenue system to the mix.

i.e. text links ads, Fan network, CJ, etc

Adsense is great, but only makes up 40% of my income, and I plan to see this number decrease monthly.

    Good luck.

    501.

There's a lot of action going on in your site. So here's my 1 tip for you.

Sign up for Crazy Egg @ www.crazyegg.com

and find out where your users click. then place your ads there.

Why? because I have NO idea how users navigate your site, so I can't provide any helpful advice at the moment.

Try crazy egg, you'll be very impressed with your findings.

    1. blend your ads because there are too obtrusive.

    2. You would make more money through referrals to weight management systems.

So sign up for some affiliate programs and place weight management ads on your site.

Need some examples? go to www.menshealth.com

You won't find adsense there, because it isn't very effective. And especially for your site, there isn't enough content for Google to send highly relevant ads.

Unless you're committed to writing more content, I would go with weight loss image ads.

If you MUST USE ADSENSE, go with image ads instead.

If you want to make serious cash, reconstruct your revenue model, add different programs to the mix, and track results.

    1. I love the image ad positioning. Very nice. You've done this before.

    2. The 460x ad is useless. I would swap out of the horizontal ad, and go with a skyscaper on the left side of the page. Make sure to make the links LIGHTER than normal links b/c your background is black.

    3. Make the text and url color the same. So black, grey, etc.

    http://www.talk-gaming.com

Read post #22, it has the link to Adsense's forum guidelines.

Also, blend the ads to make the ad background match the template.

Make the ad title darker than normal links. You want them to blend, but also STAND out at the same time.

    http://www.project4hire.com

your 720x ad is too far down the page.

Position it directly above featured projects. Blend the background, make the text and url of the ad the same.

As for regular bidding pages, get rid of the adsense text ads and go with an Adsense image ad at the top right.

Make the text and url on all ads the same.

P.S. add some more revenue mixes to your income.

You've got a highly targeted site, so go to www.textlinkads.com and sell sponsored links.

Add web hosting, web design ads to your site.

    My final advice:

View your competitor's sites and see what revenue models they are using. Ask yourself: What works well? What doesn't?

You have an amazing site. Don't limit it to Adsense.

Yes, studies show user's eyes float towards the left side of the page when they first visit a site.

Even though your design is original, the average web user is so used to viewing the left side that it's almost become 2nd nature.

And with a highly specified site like web surfing, you'll make a ton of money on users who immediately leave your site.

That's what the left skyscraper will do. Of course, try it out for a week (at least a week to determine a short-term trend), and report back.

    Hope this helps.

Very nice layout. You probably have the easiest job of repositioning out of all the sites I've seen so far.

You know those sponsors on your right sidebar?

Why not move them up to the top so they're above the fold.

Swap the positioning of your categories and sponsors.

Why? because visitors will look at your latest entry, then browse your categories...without even viewing the sponsors.

Sponsors pay keep us bloggers and web sites owners alive 'cause hosting ain't free!

Also, you have a fairly large subscribership, have you considered RSS ads?

Thanks, I just moved the large box to the bottom yesterday for a change. I've had them at the top like normal forums for a long time but I needed a change.
