What to do with this money?

    Hi everyone,

: I got some money in Paypal and dont know what to do with it :

    verified Non-US Premier account : $500
    verified Non-US Personal account : $1600

At first I thought I would cash out but I dont have a US bank account. The only option is through paypal cheques. They take a long time to come and I have heard many horror stories. I have no need for cash now anyway. :D

Then, I thought I would do some shopping! But things I want to buy are not on ebay and need Creditcards to buy. ( I had one CC - long gone now ) - I came to know about Virtual CC, but couldnt find a reliable one that can be ordered and funded with paypal. :(

I'm not a webmaster and never did any kind of online business. I'm not in a position to take up something that will eat lots of my time. A few people suggested to invest in some low value domains. ( learning more about it now )

What else can I do with it? Any nice productive ideas? Do reply. :)

    Thanks for reading.

If you know as little as you say you do about online business then don't spend it investing in anything. You will lose it all quickly to the pool of sharks that are internet con artists that will see you comming from a mile away. Simply cash out and wait for the checks. Then pay some bills or buy your significant other something nice.

i would of course ask you to partner with me on one of my projects (if you are not needing the money and you want to see it grow in a year's time), but you'd probably be better off just cashing for the money. :)

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

I have no need for cash now. That money has been sitting there unused for quite some time now - thought I should put it to some good use.

Yes, I have been reading about domains.
How about if I invest in a couple of LLL.net, NNN.net domains - maybe put in some content, build some traffic and then sell? Does that sound like money well spend?

    More suggestions are welcome!

that's sounds perfectly fine, though i should caution you to know exactly what you're doing. you can easily burn as much without seeing high returns.

My biggest advice is to read read and read some more of the threads on this site, you'll get an idea where people are making or losing money and take your time to find whatever is right for you.

If you are not an experienced web developer, it is easy to lose all that money in a matter of weeks. I suggest only investing half, so you can only lose half if it doesnt work out.

At first, start small. Develop some small sites about topics you are experienced and interested in. Get people you know in real life to spread the word and increase activity. I suggest starting with a forum or blog, as they are easy to setup and manage using open source scripts. Write some unique articles, submit to article directories with a link back to your site. Submit your site to social bookmarking sites. Build up traffic first, then put up some ads. YPN or Adsense would be your best bet. If it works out, make some more sites.

The most important thing to have when developing a site is knowledge and experience, rather than money.
