Whats americans min wages, and average wages?

 

Min is as low as $5.25 cents per hour (nasty)
Average is harder to answer, I'll leave that for someone else.

 

Minimum Wage is $5.15 an hour in most places

Average Wage is about $29,000 a year I last heard, might be higher.

It's ridiculous that people are paid as poorly as this - nobody should be earning this.

 

Shouldn't this be in Politics and religion? I mean, discussing if min wages are fair or not...Anyhow to the OP, try google search, you'll probably see some cool stats state based and what not .

What would be interesting is to know what will you earn if you work 40 hours a week in a grocery store or a gas station. And can you feed a family on this. Can anyone tell me this ?

 

I know in NJ the average income is $13,000 per year (at least in the major cities)...

Average is worthless. You are probably asking what the median income is, the mean might even a better number.

 

I think Congress just pushed the national minimum up to about $7. A dumb decision since it will just devalue the dollar and cause an increase in prices, but I'm not in Congress.

 

Probably a dumb decision for you since you already earn more than that.

 

In Michigan I think the minimum wage is $6.90. The only jobs that pay that low are fast food restaurants.

 

If you guys think that's bad, in Portugal minimum wage is something like 405 euros month...

 

We've got around the same minimum wage here.. (converted into canadian dollars.. ). Most labour jobs start at minimum wage, then go up may? from here (my friend got a 10 cent raise after working at McDonalds for a year! )

We should look at minimum wage on online income.. outsourcers charge soooo less.

 

I believe minimum wage is going to be $7 soon. As for the average I'm not sure.

 

The thing is the dollar isnt worth as much to them. So actually that might be kind of good. What are prices at their grocery stores etc. ?
