Question about Proxies

I have heard time and time again that people have dozens of proxies and they are earning a lot with them. Now I don't understand why you would build so many proxies instead of trying to get good rankings in the SEs for one or two proxies. What kind of niches are there to target? How do you monetize all those proxies? Just with AdSense?

 

Ever think that there are people doing both?

I rank some in SE's, monetize with adsense, sell links

I'll keep the niches to myself, I would prefer less competition

 

Sure there are people doing both, however I don't understand why people prefer one over the other. Getting one to rank well is so much easier than getting dozens to rank well.

 

Getting one to rank well means less traffic which means less money

You rank only a couple for the same terms

I guess the best way would be to put AdSense only on the front page, not on the "proxified" pages?

I might just start doing proxies for the German market.

 

Against TOS to put them on the proxified pages.
