What is proxy site

I have been seeing this on many threads on making easy money. Can someone plz tell me what a proxy site is? Is it very profitable? How much money does it need to start such a site? Are there any special requirements for starting a proxy site? Can you please guide me to some tutorial on this?

Well a proxy site!
You need a Hosting ( It's better to get a VPS ) and a domain also proxy script. (PHProxy or CGI or...)
CGI need a huge resource of CPU...

So it's better to start with PHProxy.
You can buy or get free template for it.

I also heard that every webhosts do not support proxy sites. Can you please name some webhosts that support proxy site hosting?

Which one has a better chance of success? CGI proxy or normal proxy script?

 

Also can someone please tell me which is a better idea. Starting a new Proxy site from scratch or buying an existing one?

I have finally decided to give it a try. After much searching on the internet, I have decided to buy an existing site as I have no idea on where to start the promotion.

well my 2cents.
a proxy is a site which you can use for keeping your privacy.suppose you are a student in a school,whose net admin have blocked certain sites which you have to surf.when you try to surf to that link,since its blocked by the network,you just cant.now you type the URL in a proxy,and what the proxy does is,it looks up the info in the URL you mentioned and reproduces it to you as its own content.now what the network sees is you are browsing the proxy site (admin doesnt know its a proxy),so that every ones happy...

to start a proxy you need to buy a decent template (of course there are free ones available,but what if you want a cool template ?)
next thing is hosting.for beginners putting their proxy on normal host is ok,but as you gain traffic you have to change it to a VPS or dedicated.

i cant tell whether its profitable or not,because some times you can get banned (most probably due to too much clicks from same ip,remember proxies are used by school networks,so when each of the kid clicks an ad,it is much like click fraud).

the money you need is,money to register domain and hosting and....thats it,thats all you need.
well you can also spend some on promotion,but there are promotion ways which doesn't need any money.

Submit your proxy sites to proxy topsites and other websites as well.

psstt...the majority users of these proxies domain are myspace users and other social network website which is blocked on their school....

well if you can ask one of them to go to your site....

 

well am not supposed to share this.i too accept majority of the users are from schools and colleges (i got that info from my google analytics networks section).
for the same reason am afraid i will be banned from adsense.suppose 100 students use my proxy and 20 of them click my ads,so it looks legal to us.but for google all those clicks came from a single ip and what if this keeps happening for the following days !!!!wola BAN

free promotion include old school methods like,building back links by link exchange,directory submission,top site submission,press release,article submission and any other way you can think of.
